Urgent Advice please  Reply with quote

Hi all,
For the second time in a couple of months I came home to find the Tiel cage full off blood.
For the second time Tux has broken a nail.
There are no signs of fighting in the cage.
Could this be a sign of a larger problem or is she just unlucky ?

OMG! I can understand you're worried. EHm, do you think Tux did it himself?
Can you find the remains of the nail?

No, haven't seen the remains.

I dont think she did it her self, her nails are usually pretty long.
We just clipped them a few days ago.

There was a lot of blood in the cage but she seemed ok.

There where no feathers or anything in the cage so I dont think they had a fight.
She was actauly cleaning her feet an feathers when we came home.
It must hurt because she wont step up.
She does seem to be active now and we gave them one of those seed sticks and she is eating like usual and chasing Beasty away.

So all seems fine.

I just keep wondering how she does it.

She has had the wurst of luck the poor thing
She laid eggs 2 times, last time while i was moving house, she was so stessed she got realy weak.
Then half a year later she hurt her foot because she was hanging of a mineral block that fell down because she had bitten it lose.
Now this ... she realy knows how to worry us.

Confused Some birds are just sort of klutzy. My Kacey is always getting hurt or breaks tail and wing feathers. She also isn't good at gripping onto perches or fingers. Its like she has weak muscles in her feet. We have to make sure we hang onto Kacey when taking her from one room to another so she doesn't fall off. With her wing problem lately we transport her in her pettent and make sure she doesn't come out.

Not to scare you but have you to DNA test Tux? Maby she picked something up.
