Monika does he fly fine? Can you take him to the vet? Maybe you can have x-rays done that might show something? sorry to hear the problem is back. |

He was flying ok today, no problems. Then I put him to his cage and after a minute or so he started doing it I inspected the wing and the rest of him and everything looked ok. He was kind of upset when I inspected that wing... I'm not sure if it hurs or he just didn't like me streching and poking at it. I put him back to his cage and he was ok. He went to eat and to sleep.
I was thinking about taking him to the vet, but I feel kind of silly because most of the time the wing is completely normal. I don't like to abuse the vets time for what may not be important. I bet they are busy with emergencies and animals that really need their attention.
But if he keeps doing it, I guess I will have no choice! |

I see what you're saying, but i don't think they see it as you wasting their time I think they see it as making more money. One time Hazelnut broke a blood feather on a Sunday, I had no experience with blood feathers before and totally panicked, so I called the emergency hospital for advice, and they encouraged me to go in! Even though it was an emergency hospital! Plus, I think you've been observing him for at least a couple of days now, right? So you have every right to take the next step, if you feel something is not right with him. It's up to you, but I just don't want you to feel bad about taking him in because of that. Do you take your birds for regular wellness checks? Cuz you could just schedual a wellness appointment, and then discuss your concerns with your vet then. Trust me, vets don't mind All my birds get reminders in the mail every six months to go for wellness checks. By the way, didn't you say your vet was a friend of yours? |

Yes, I have two good friends who are vets. Well, one is an experienced vet and the other one is just finishing her vet school. They both do house calls No, but seriously... I get them to check on my birds whenever I have a chance. Poop went to my friend in school for a project She also wanted to get blood samples but I just can't imagine letting anybody poking at my birds for blood Not unless it's absolutely neccessary.
If Papug does his wing thing even one more time than I'm gonna book an appointment for him. |

Glad to hear Papug is doing better. Maybe it was a feather bothering him or he strained it. Also some female tiels don't ever lay eggs and some lay them all the time. My tiel Kacey lays eggs every 6 weeks. She hasn't laid any eggs lately due to the stress of her frctured wing healing the past 2 1/2 months. Her wing is doing better and I am now doing wing therapy on her. I have to strtch it out to try and loosen the shoulder joint which is frozen in place. She hates her therapy and doesn't like being held. |

Poor little Kacey. Hope the therapy helps and she gets back to using her wing. You did such a good job looking after her
Thanks everybody for caring about Papug He is been great for the last few days and seems to be even kind of hyper I think this is a sign that the Spring is approaching |
