| Wing problem |

Yesterday at the end of the day I noticed that Papug was lifting his right wing in an odd manner and it just looked as if the wing was crampped or something I inspected the wing but it looked fine, no blood, no weird skin changes, no swelling, no lumps or bumps... I just thought that he strained the wing since he was out and flying around most of the day. I put him back into his cage and he was preening that wing more than usual but otherwise he was ok and was not lifting the wing anymore.
Today he was fine too and started the day very well. He was flying around with Booboo as he normally does. But after a few hours he started doing the wing thing again... He would just keep that wing kind of elevated and away from his body and tried to preen it from time to time. He didn't want to fly around anymore. I inspected the wing again in detail and couldn't really find anything.
I wonder what could it be? Papug is a very good flier and he usually flies around for a few hours everyday. He never had any problems with his wings. |

oh I'm sorry to hear that! I hope it's nothing. Could there be something wrong with his leg or foot? Maybe he's lifting that wing to keep balance? |

I don't think so. I looked at him all over, including the other wing. He was not limping when he was walking.
I put him back to his cage early today and he seems to be ok. He ate and went off to sleep. |

He seemed to be ok today but he was out only for about 3 hours or so. I'll keep a close eye on him for a while.
I was staring at him so closely today that I could almost see him think "oh, geeze... give me a break mom!" |

I know what you mean Monika I'm the same!
But I think sometimes its better to be overly cautious, than to not pay attention at all, you know what I mean? You're a very good mommy
I hope Papug will be back to his old self again very soon (by the way I keep wanting to call Papug a "she" I think cuz he's so sweet |

Papug's wing seems to be OK. There were no more problems. I'm not sure what happened. Maybe he just strained it. He is also moulting so maybe one of his new growing feathers was causing him some pain? Well, I'm glad it's nothing!
Shirin, I think Papug is a "she" too |

Bad news Papug did the wing thing again today. He was ok flying around but when I put him back to his cage he started lifting the right wing and then try to pick on it. I pulled him out and inspected the wing again. Nothing! I don't know! |

Well... He just behaves like a she He is so gentle and good. He is never aggressive. He also has yellow stripes on his tail feathers.
Besides, why would Booboo do his scratch-mate dance around him?
The only thing that is against it is that Papug never layed an egg... Hmmm... do all female tiels lay eggs at some point? Is it possible that they never do? |
