Ok ~ so my usefulness this evening is to make you all feel a lot better about how you are doing as a Parront.
& i should be taken away & Laker & Rio should be sent to a better & safer home.
Let me backtrack
~ we have an urban nest of Peregrines about a block away & we also live in a high-rise - 29th floor. They've been very quiet around here this year [used to hear them screaming in the mornings & the evenings.] & quite frankly i'd forgotten about them. BUT a few days ago i heard them a few times - just didn't sink in really deep.
In the past they have flown beside our balcony, maybe 10-15 feet away hovering in the updraft. They're hunting nesting Pigeons on the balconies.
As i said they haven't been around & i put the Budgies out on the Balcony quite a bit. Today they were out 2x's. It isn't like their cage is on a wire swinging as bait. Normally they don't go out in the early evening either - just the mornings to preen after their bath. Tonight is a lovely night after a hot & humid day. So i put them out for a 1/2 hour before bed.
My husband went out to have a smoke, noticed the Budgies in the corner &
15ft off the balcony were 2 Peregrines hovering.
Matthew took the Budgies into the apartment. They were very quiet
& stayed in the cage even when i opened it, but in the next 1/2 hour they seemed Ok. However Laker stayed in his cage while Rio foraged all over, waiting for sleepy-time.
They're singing themselves to sleep right now.
I feel a little ill. |

Oh my goodness.. I'm so glad to hear that Rio and Laker re both fine from this aweful ordeals for the poor little ones.
Dont be too hard on yourself, we are only humans, so we all make mistakes. Just as long as we learn from it and nothing is harm in the process of it. poor babies. I'm sure they were very glad when they were out of the danger that was there. |

Oh my goodness! Thank heavens the little birds didn't get hurt.. At least all they got was a scare, it could have been worse!
Don't be too hard on yourself, like Cheeta said, we all make mistakes. Wishing you and your li'l birdies the best. |
