My B&G macaw was very inexpensive as I got him from someone who was no longer able to keep him, but the average here in the states is about 1,200 dollars.

I think we were talking about grays in Australia in another part of the forum a while ago. From memory they were one of the birds that could only be brought in under special conditions. Not all is lost though, the Eclectus are meant to be just as smart and are native to the region.

Hi Shell

We seem to be catching up a lot Smile My friend has just last week got a Male Eclectus ... he is sooo lovely, the sweetest nature ♥ I'm hoping Nat may join us all here, she'd have such fun she loves her birds as we all do.

My Bronze Winged Pionus was $1500 Canadian (I know, ugh!) but I got her for about $1000 since I worked at the pet store.

My Senegal was another $1000 but my mother paid her off as a gift to me.

You can buy African Greys here no troubles at all, but they will set you back about $4000.
There are many sub species of Eclectus, one of those sub species are native to Australia (Cape York to be exact) but the Asutralian sub species are worth about $5000 each Shocked

The most common Eclectus are the Red Sided, which are about $600-$1000

Hey Jeremy...
I'm assuming that when you say you can get the Greys easily there, you mean, the Eastern States right? As far as I know, you cannot import those greys into Western Australia at all. It is prohibited to enter into WA. So so sad as I really would just love one of those guys!!

I got my U2 for $600 us because the breeder is a friend of mine, they usually cost anywhere from $800 to $1000 from a breeder. My budgie was a birthday gift. (a very early birthday gift as my birthday is not for another week)

Well yes and no really. I love it here in WA... Even if I was in Vic or NSW.. I probably wouldn't have the money to buy a grey!! The cost of it is just so HIGH!!! I don't think I'll have a spare $4000 for a grey just yet. May be after I won the lotto or something.. hehe

Well, if my breeder has fertile eggs, my violet handraised Lovebird will cost $65, $85 if I want the DNA test, which I do.

hm... I pay regular visits to pet stores, I just love looking at the birds and babies and scratching their heads.
Tamed amazons cost about 2000 euros
African grays cost 1000 when they are babies, 500 otherwise.
Ringnecks cost 40 to 50 euro if they're green and about 120 if they are of any other colour.
Sennies cost about 45. Cockatiels cost as much if they are yellow crested and they can reach up to 80 if they are white, grayish and the like.
Macaws cost at least 2000.
Rosellas from 80 up to 180 (80 for eastern, 120 for red or hand reared birds, 180 for crimson).
Budgies cost from 10 to 25 (I think the english ones are more expensive)
and lovebirds about 35.
