My too was $1500, being a X and hand reared he was expensive, the toos are usually only a couple of hundred for a tame baby depending on the type. |

Well my budgies are all free from my mother in law..
Apollo I think was around $350, but he was given to me, so technically he's free as well.
Hey Shirin, I can't believe you paid that much for your lovies. It's roughly about $50 here for a hand reared one, give or take $20 pending on where you get it from.
I would love to get a red tail black cockatoo one day, and they cost around the $2000AUD mark. So it isn't too bad. At least not as much as a Macaw cost around here anyway!!! LOL. |

How much does a Macaw cost there? Here they're about $2700-$3000. The most expensive bird here (that I've seen so far) is a Hawk head, they're about $5000. |

yeah, I don't know of anyone who owns one.
Although I saw one being boarded at the local bird shop not too long ago. It's a sad case though coz it's a plucker, and it had a collar on. I so wanted to take it home to look after it!!! Such beautiful creatures they are. |

I know what you mean There's a Macaw at my pet store too, she doesn't pluck, but she's over a year old and no one's bought her, and as a result of being in the cage for so long she's developed screaming problems and she's also really aggressive and bites. No one can handle her, therefore no one will buy her. It makes me so angry! She can't just live in that cage her whole life! I told them that they should just give her to a rescue organization, that way at least people will spend time with her and socialize her and adopt her out to a nice home, but noooooo as long as there's a chance of making a profit why would they have the bird's interest at heart? |

That is just so sad. It's really unfortunate that so many people only see profit first, and the welfare second. It really does make my blood boils when I hear of things like that. |

Hmm hopefully I can remember
My one grey was $400 us dollars.....he was a neglected bird in the carpet store that the owner had. My bird store couldn't sell him when I came in and fell in love. Now he is the sweetest!
My other grey was $ 450 his owner also threw in his cages, not small ones either and stands. He was desparate to get rid of him as his mother in law hated the bird.
My one tiel was free he came with the budgie.
My lovie was $15 dollars
My other tiel was $30 dollars
My quaker was $175 dollars. |
