| Is this common for us Parronts? |

Hi! When my fids preen their feathers away and molt etc, I save them! I am wondering if I am the only one who enjoys doing this?
I plan to make a scrapbook of my fids and use the feathers all throughout.
My husband thinks it's a little strange of me, especially when I get mad that he vaccumed BEFORE I had a chance to pick up any loose feathers... lol
.....just hoping I'm not the only one! |

I collect them and place them in a crystal bowl......I want to add some to their scrap books and some I use when my fids go into my girlfriends school and the kids see the birds but they also draw them, art class, I have them get a close up look at their feathers. It amazes me how many people never have looked at a feather or a bird up close. |

Hi Tia....that is a cool idea about placing them in a nice bowl! Now I am thinking of other ideas.
I agree that feathers are so interesting and beautiful!
If I throw them away, I feel sad |

I tend to collect Apollo's feathers, but only the bigger ones, though hubby collects the little ones for me too! Isn't he just so sweet. We have this cardboard thing that we poke the feathers through. Doesn't look very neat, but it's pretty cool. The cats usually try to get to it. They got the cardboard down once, and had a blast with all the feathers!! I woke up to feathers scattered all over the house!!
I don't collect my budgies feathers. they are small, and i have a lot of them!! lol .. 18 budgies tend to loose a lot of feathers!! So i just vacuum them up before the cats decides that the little ones are fun to play with as well.. |

My husband thinks I am a weirdo too b/c I save my birds feathers. I generally only save the big ones, though - or as I like to call them 'major feathers'. In fact, Lily my cockatiel is molting right now and lost a major feather this morning - a beautiful tail feather.
My mom likes to use them as decorations on the christmas tree.
I also use the big ones as book marks and have a few on the wall in my office at work. |

yes i have done that as long as I can remember - i have used them to make cards or for easter decorations or i have just made some beautiful ikebana kind of flower bouquets - since i am a very creative person - my boyfriend hates my tendency to collect feathers though |

I love to keep Mollybird's feathers - I have created a lovely hanging mobile with her tail feathers. The rest I keep in a bowl on my desk. |
