| Microchipping |

Has anyone here had their bird(s) microchipped? I was thinking of getting my TAG done, but the vet I spoke to said she would have to get an anesthetic. I'm not sure how good that would be for her. What does everyone think of microchipping birds? |

I have Zazu microchipped. They didn't use anesthetics. He didn't squawk when the needle went in though he did when they grabbed him.
I wouldn't do it now by the way.
I have heard nasty stories about microchipping on the Dutch forum.
Stories on wandering microchips in horses.
If the microchip is in, you can't get it out, someone on the Dutch forum said: And I think that's quite true!
I heard a story of a horse getting a cleansing mud bath, then the chip was gone. They couldn't find it. Somehow the mud cleansed the chip away.
I'm not saying that horses are parrots but I'd be cautious!
There's also a possibility to have a bird's DNA noted.. |

I don't know much about microchipping. But I did experience my little dove, who only weighs 24 grams, be put under anesthetics, and she was fine after. |
