I have baby sat the bird before and wen i go to his house i always play with it. The reason he is giving it away is for 2 reasons. One is his new dog doesnt mix well with the bird. The second is he can't take proper care of the bird.

It might not like you at first just to tell you, they can get very clingy and it might miss the previous owner.

Congratulations! I sure hope all works out for you & the conure!
I would suggest you do LOTS of research on sun conures so you can make his new home as comfy & as happy as possible.

I agree with Cathy....research and make his home the best you can.

The previous owner of my Aratinga Conure had her since 1994. I have had her now for about a month, and she is now daring to trust me more. Trust takes time.

YES Conures are loud....but mostly when they are nervous, scared or upset. When they are happy they make the cutest grunt and chirp sounds too. My Conure was ReAlLy loud for the first 2 weeks.

It must be so scary for these fids to go from one place to the other. I know I would have a hard time too Shocked I'm sure you will do your best....and I wish you the best! I look forward to pictures too!

Well, this is certainly going to be different than getting budgie.Very Happy But keep researching before he comes home to make the transition as easy as possible for him and it should go well. They are of course noisier and will bite harder than a budgie would (though don't ever underestimate the pain of a budgie beak either) Shocked But if you have lots of patience, give him lots of love and time to feel safe and secure with you it should go well. Do you know when you will be getting him? What's his name? Also, be sure his wings are clipped, as that will help so he can be let out of his cage and all.
