New Canary  Reply with quote

Have to announce a new addition to our household!! A gorgeous little yellow canary named "Monet"!!! I just love him. I've always wanted one. I was shopping friday and came across him. Went in the birdroom to check him out and decided if he sang while I was in there I would take him home. He sang, and now he's mine.Smile Store owner said he didn't sing in front of people very much. So I felt he was meant to be mine.Smile He sings his little heart out and it sounds so beautiful.

He's also amazing in that he has no hesitation about new things, unlike any parrots I've ever owned. Put greens in his cage and he went and checked them out immediately. Ate the eggfood, veggies, bird bread, everything I've put in his cage, within 2 minutes after it was in there. Also hopped in his little bathtub almost before I got my hands off of it. He's so awesome. Very Happy

Just had to share.

No Robin, just teaseing you, Congratulations on the new Bird, A little yellow Canery, They say a sucker is born every min, so I guess that means a bird person is born every min. I am glad for you.

I had thought we were going to get another one, a one legged Senn, the the rescue got in, but somebody else adopted him, which was the best thing for him I would hate to have to bring in another bird, 17 birds are to much now, we can not give the kind of attention they all need. But I would not never say no to a bird in need of a home. As I am sure that everybody here would say the same thing.

Thanks all for the congrats. Laughing He really is awesome. He just sings and sings his little heart out, especially when he hears water running. My camera broke and I did get a new one but have to get software installed and figure out how to get them on computer. Hopefully over the weekend.

Aaaw soo cute! I love canaries, I want one too! Would you consider getting him a mate? He might get lonely all by himself, unless you're planning on taming him. Anyway, congratulations!!! Don't forget to post photos!

Cathy, you wouldn't regret if it you got one. His is so cheery to have around. I never could have had one here before. Already gave up a too and an amazon, plus my breeding lovebirds in the past because hubby couldn't tolerate the noise. But, hubby just packed up and left. So first thing I did was went out and got Monet!!!

Well, I need to learn some more first. I don't think I can put him with another male, but need to look more into that. And if I put him with a female I think they are like finches and will nest anywhere. Then you have to remove the male when mom has babies....don't know if I want all of that. Would love to get him tame and trusting enough to let him out for flying exercise. Will see how it all goes.

Robin, my diamond doves aren't tame, but I still let them out to fly everyday. All you have to do it turn off the lights and then you can scoop him up in your hand and put him back in the cage, cuz they won't fly in the dark Smile
