| Sexual Maturity |

Since Lynzie is going through this right now, thought I'd ask others to share their experience. Share your stories about what you've gone through with your parrots as a result of their sexual maturity. Was it a nightmare? Did you have to deal with aggression, plucking, screaming, ect? Has anyone had an easy time through their parrot's transition into adulthood? |

About Iago: When he matured he became more strong willed, less easy to go with. But apart from that, he didn't change much.
Zazu didn't really change as he matured. He started plucking but that wasn't because of him growing up. It was my fault, it was a silly mistake which caused it.
Before Zazu matured, I went to see an avian behaviorist because I had heared that MM2 can be sooo difficult and unmanageable as they mature..
Little Flit only became SWEETER as he matured. He was also very eager to learn. I still miss that darling.. |

So Sue, none of your birds became aggressive, as in biting? That's amazing!
I haven't gone through it with Bunny yet, but the lovebirds haven't changed much either... other than now they just like to do the hanky panky with their birdie tent a lot
My male doves became really aggressive towards eachother because of sexual maturity. If I leave them out in the same room they will kill eachother. |

No, not more. Zazu bit me some times, but that was also when he was younger.
Iago bites me when I'm stressed.. So that's not a part of growing up I think?
I couldn't think of that male doves were soooo agressive?! |

Yes they're quite aggressive. Maybe they couldn't kill eachother but they would pull out all eachothers feathers and poke out eachothers eyes You know they actually wrestle with eachother? Like one will jump on top of the other and try to hold him down by putting the foot on the others neck while at the same time plucking the feathers and pecking the face That's why I never let them out in the same room |
