Hi Jeremy! I would love to live somewhere that I could see those kinds of beautiful wild birds outside my window Preferably some where on the water! Now would that not be the ideal life to wake up in the mornings & see the water & such beautiful wildlife! Well, maybe you do, but for me it's still just a dream!
I so agree with Sue, I would love to see some photos of your birdies! |

Hey Cathy
Ya know, that might be a dream and all, but after having some thought about it... not only are they noisy, and destructive... those big white cockatoos... I worry about taking Apollo outside, or when I give him some branches from outside... as you never know what birds has been there, and what disease it may carry such as the PBFD... It's just so much that I worry about here due to the fact that I HAVE those wild cockatoos here!
Oh but don't get me wrong though, I love those wild ones, but it is also can be a scary thing....
Just my opinion...

Well, that's the same here too tho Bih, sadly. Even tho no cockatoos, the wild birds here can also be a disease carrying threat, tho I don't know if to the same extent. Especially the big black birds here which seem to be very susestible (sp) to West Nile |

Those big white cockatoos (sulphur crest?) are a pain in the Whitsundays. Your having a nice breakfast overlooking the beautiful blue water, and you cant turn your back otherwise they take you food. Also, all apartment door have to be closed at all times as its not uncommon for them to enter your room and pinch them. Theres just hundreds of them.
I was calling them the seagulls of the Whitsundays |

That's too funny. I have heard of them doing that. In fact when I was over in Stanwell Top last week, the SC2 there were stealing our morning tea!! funny to watch really.. hehe |

Cathy, Cheeta, I understand why you are so worried about diseases. Of course I can't speak for West Nile virus.. But my vet said (about PBFD) that with birds with good immune systems, and in open air, the risk of disease tranmission is neglectable. (That's why he organizes open air bird events)
I go there too, but I would never go to an indoor event!
OFCOURSE you should feel happy with it!!! |
