| Help With an Idea |
|
|
So today I was planning out the playstand I would build for Alberto. And I was thinking about taking a bowl of some sort and filling it with something for him to play with. (I was thinking beads, but I don't know how safe those are) Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!

How about a small stainless steel bucket? I fill it with pieces of untreated leather, large beads with pieces of rope knotted onto it, plastic foottoys, etc etc! |

An untreated basket put together without nails. Carrie buys this at a discount place for about $1.00 a pice. Uses Plasict Wire ties to hold them in place and fills them with foot toys treats and what ever is safe. Then they can not only destory the toys but they can also destory the "Toy Box". We have four or five in the bird room. Some in the cages and some in the play stands.
Misy (CAG) and Charlie (YNA) will spend all day throw eveything in the basket on the floor. (looking for the treats). Carrie picks them all up again. Where Ann (GW) loves to destory the Baskets...

I use baskets pretty much like John and Carrie. You can also use little plastic baskets if you want it permanently attached and not destroyed. I use a lot of the wood/leather/rope pieces broken/chewed off their regular toys thrown in there for foot toys. Uncooked macaroni is also another big hit. I think they like that because it makes a fine mess for Mom to clean up. But it does keep them busy.

Just realized Alberto is a tiel so may not pick up foot toy pieces. In addition to plastic beads, buttons are also an attraction for the smaller guys. As well as cheerios. |

He may not pick up the foot toys, but I bought some foot toys for my little budgie, he may not pick them up but he has a ball just nibbling at them and throwing them all over the place! Maybe your 'tiel will have fun with them too |
