| I made Snoop a toy and she hates it... what to do? |
|
|
I made Snoop the first/top piece of her to-be hanging gym. She's very suspicious of it/ scared, and I'm not sure how to get her to enjoy it.. Any thoughts? Photos and details on Snoop's new 'toy' on her recent diary page. Don't laugh- it's the first I've ever made. It'll look better once I make more levels/add fun stuff. |

Oh the play gym you've built is great. I'm sure given time Snoop will try it. It took forever for Angel our tiel to use the playgym I made. Just give him a little more time. I could just picture Snoop when you hung it.......I had to laugh as I brought in the birds Christmas treats today and they all ran in terror....... They came around though when they realized food was inside..... |

I think it looks great! Just give Snoop time, and maybe play with it a little yourself to get her interested I have to do that sometimes to get my little one curious about new toys |

Oh, the toy looks great
My 'tiel, Poppy takes a VERY long time to get aquainted with new things. Given time, I'm sure Snoop will come to enjoy it. |

The gym looks great! Bellamy is kind of funny about accepting toys. Foot toys he will grab right away (growling and muttering the whole time), some larger things he takes to right away while others he hates for months then loves after it's been in his toy box, then brought out again later .
It helps if he gets to help with the assembly of the toy or (for store toys) if I play with it when he starts to eye it- he gets jealous and wants to play too. |

Thats a very good gym! Just try to leave it where it is and she should get used to it. When shes more comfortable you can feed her treats when shes near it.
good luck.

My birds are always nervous around new toys, especially my tiel. I try to introduce new toys slowly. I even play with the toy in front of the birds to show them its ok. Silly, but it works for me. I am sure that eventually she will be curious enough to check it out herself... Good luck. |

You know, Misty my citron used to be scared of every new toy. Only when I put it in her cage with her out of the room everything went fine. |

Romeo is very brave and will take just a minute or two then he will check toys out. If it's foot toy then he will go right to it. Qbe I don't think is afraid of anything new, he goes right to it to see especially if momma is touching it first. Newbe takes more time and has to sit and watch it for a while before he believes it won't hurt him. Then the tiels, well they dont like much but they did like the disc that was on a toy that Sentiel sent them and went right to that chewing those up. They still take the longest of any of my birds on gettting use to something new tho |
