VERY cool CM! I really do like that & have actually been thinking of doing the same sort of thing using PVC!
The food bowls - are those something special, or were those in the same dept. How did you do them? And what kind of floor base are you using to keep it upright? |

Wow that looks so cool! I had a bit of a laugh at it though because the food cups remind me of some sort of plumbing, I can just imagine someone ripping out the pipes out from under the sink for a playgym! |

That looks great! Merlins play tree didn't last long, he is already back on the quilt rack till I can get home and build him a better one. I also used tree branches from the yard. I'll keep the PVC in mind, I was going to use wooden dowls, but this looks easier to keep clean! |

Thanks guys for all the great comments I plan on going out today and add to it because I have so much more room in the bird room and the play area has room for expansion. I updated my diary page and added the base to it. For the floor, to keep it from getting poo on it, there is a carpet protector adhesive. Kinda like a big sticker that they sell on a roll. Very easy to keep clean as well.
You can get everything at a home improvements center like Lowe's. Nothing special, all PVC parts. Caps, T's, elbows and pipe. The dish is a 3" cap that I hot glue gunned to a 3/4" elbow. I just filled the elbow full of glue and then on the outside I reinforced where they connected together so it wont pop off. I also added all the parts on my diary page. It was just so easy and inexpensive and you can get so creative with it. If you want to add to it, just simply cut the pipe and add |

Oh it's just great CM! And as you mentioned, MUCH less expensive than buying basically the same thing from a pet store! And like you said, there's a lot of options & you can get much more creative with it!
I showed your diary page to my hubby & we will definitely be working on one as soon as we can get to the hardware store for the supplys! |

CM, thanks for that update. You know, I was thinking about you: You could seriously start a business for those gyms he he! (Not that you'd want that but ok, they look sooo great) |

I agree with Sue! You could make them all different sizes, couldn't you? I mean, I'm guessing the PVC comes in a few different sizes, doesn't it? |

thanks for explaining the food cups! I can't wait to make one of these for myself. Here I was thinking I have to wait till I go home to Moms, but I could make one of these right here in the city! I don't need all the fancy power tools! I'm going to make a large one like yours, and a smaller table top one... oh, and a T-stand for training too! Then he can have gyms in several rooms, and I can even take him up to my boyfriends apartment to play! This is the greatest idea ever...and yes, I bet you COULD sell them, at least locally. |

Thanks again! Yes! I was thinking of making some and selling You can make table top play gyms too. I think drsfostersmith website will show you pictures there for all the different models. That is where I got the idea from.
Hey! I updated my diary again with the almost finished product. I altered it and it only took about 4 hours It is simply huge and she loves chewing on the plastic rope |

That playgym looks fantastic now! What did you put on the PVC pipes? It sort of looks like string to me but I'm not totally sure |

That looks great and was such an inspiration. I spent the afternoon desigining 3 different gyms for Merlin, Large, medium and small! You can see my plans on my new diary page! I think I'll get started on it next week. I hope PVC is as inexpensive here as yours was! How much PVC did you end up using? (as in lengths) |
