unfortunately, I've seen it in many budgie cases where the bottom beak gets too long as the bird doesn't grind it down by itself. so regular beak trimming is required for the underbeak.. which is why I said 'overgrown underbeak'. I think that's where the confusion came in.. hehe. sorry.
And I've posted what I do with my budgies in that thread. hopefully it will help a bit. |

I'm sorry it took so long to get back to you, Dobby was the only conure available but haas NO broblem eating food in small pieces, he can even eat veggies and fruits when they are chopped very small. The breeder told us that 2 of his sibbling where also born wit a deformed beak. ( apperantly they were early or the parents didn't have enough vitamin) We DO take him for regular trimming and what i ment when I said that the mineral block is usless was that isn't it supposed to wear the beak down???? Like I said he has no trouble eating snall pieces of food, I boufgt a small bag of harrisons that I add to my birds diet he has no troble eating it. Like I said, he was born with a deformed beak, but it is definatly getting better, all I want to know is better ways of wearing it down. P.S. Cheeta, you are right, his bottom beak is deformed. |

There really is no other way other than trimming it or filing it down yourself. |
