I aquired my cockatiel, Poppy, & his partner, Piper, in 1993 when they were just weened. We celebrate his birthday on April 1st. Sadly, we lost Piper to a tragic accident when she was about 7 years old. It was a very sad loss for me, as well as for Poppy, but he didn't pine away & wallow in sorrow as I feared he might. Instead, he actually became more people friendly. Poppy has never been hand tame. At the time, I knew very little about the proper care of birds, & didn't realize there was so much to learn. However, even tho he can't be handled, he is a very sweet bird that loves attention & is loved very much by all who know him. Poppy has never been sex tested, but in my mind, he is a "he". Poppy has been thru a lot with me & the two of us have learned a lot together. He's been with me longer than any of my other furry & feathered friends & holds such a very special place in my life & in my heart.
this photo was taken the day Manu came into our home
Manu, the Blue & Gold Macaw, came to live with me on December 14th, 2003. I don't know his hatch date, so we celebrate his birthday on Dec 14th. Since I can remember, I have been awed by the magnificent & magestic large parrots, tho never in my life would I have imagined I would actually ever live with one! So, imagine my excitement when I learned that Manus previous person was going thru some personal issues in her life & was looking for a good home for him, where he would recieve the attention needed for such an intelligent one year old. Even tho Manu was a very well behaved bird, I had had no previous experience with birds other Poppy & was not well prepared for living with, or properly caring for such an intelligent creature. So he & I had quite a rocky first few months together, adapting to, & learning to trust each other. After I realized that I had to make some rather major changes in my own life style, he & I have since become permanantly bonded! Manu has been DNA tested & is definitely all male. He will never cease to be a source of amazement & wonder to me!

Jennie, the senegal, joined our family on January 5th, 2006 when she was 12 weeks old. Her hatch date is October 7th, 2006. Her & I got off to a shaky start also, as she was quite a little biter! But after she learned she had nothing to fear from me, we became the very best of friends! She soon became known as the clown of our flock & can quite literally keep me in stitches all day long with her silly antics & sweet disposition! She seems to have no fear of anything! Jennie has not been sex tested, not do I plan to do so, but unless & until we find out differently, she is a female. And so our story continues ... Credits Our Fav Links
