             Cheekie Kon-Tiki the Senegal Parrot

                  Cheekie

"Cheekie" is a Senegal Parrot, and a cute one at that. He can talk up a storm and wave too. He is 16 years old. He is different from other sennies because he has these yellow spots on his back. We don't know why and luckily he doeasn't have fatty liver diease. He is a rescue sennie and came in a tiny fithy cage, with a few chewed up toys and an all seed diet. He is plucked in spots and will never be a "pretty" fully-feathered bird. But to me he is beautiful. His old owners thought he was a conure. The man bought him in a pet store thinking he would make a nice present for his daughter. He was highly agressive when I got him and cage agressive too. He is a person bird and only likes me, all other people he will attack.

Here is a drawing of Cheekie I did on the computer.

I love makingf graphics of my birdies. I especially like to make ones like this. Sort of a picture frame thing. I made this up..well sort of. I made a collage with a pic of my bird and then an icon, a person on a forum asked if they could use that idea, they did something like this (not exactly, it was a pic of their bird with a zigzag line and icon and stuff). Then I made this.

                   Figaro the Budgie

                                                                                                                         Figaro

I brought Fig home from Petsmart in March 2003. She is a funny who keeps us smiling and laughing. She is unclipped and brings everyone much joy when she flys about and lands on people. She's the regular ham!! Always being goofy and silly and working herself into odd positions and tossing foot toys (and lettuce!!) She is extremely self-centered. All eyes must be on her. It seems that budgies have an odd belief. Fig did not think the lettuce was perfectly happy in her bowl and decided to throw it out. Wherever the lettuce went that was where it belonged. Of course when she tossed it it landed on the cage floor. We kept putting it in the bowl and she kept throwing it out. She thinks she a hyacinth macaw. She divebombs bigger birds.

     Petrie the fiery-shouldered (demerara) conure

                                 Petrie

Petrie is a 5 yr old conure. His previous owner hand fed him and loved him dearly but she could no longer keep him due to her new job hours. She noticed some missing feathers on his legs and made the hard desicion that he was not happy and she needed to find him a new home. So that was when I came in. I had been looking for a conure for some time and here was my bird. Petrie came home with me in August. A real cute little guy and we all love him. very quiet. I definately would reccomend these conures to a person who is looking for a second bird!!! (You need some experience first though)

the first-place trophy petrie won--pet bird appearence

Petrie won this trophy for coming in first at a bird show. He was the "Best Pet Appearence winner. His competition was a Mulloccan atoo (2nd place) and a atiel (3rd place)

                                                                                          Aloha Coconut the budgie

                                     Aloha Coconut

Aloha is the newest flock member. Though I really wanted to name it Hattrick or Jellybean, we decided Aloha because the colours looked like a Hawiian print shirt. Aloha is Hawiian for "hello" or "goodbye". Little Lolo came home on December 10th. Well, I wanted another budgie so we went to a great pet store, but my family thought "The budgies didn't have the right colours" I was pretty upset. But my grandma, aunt, uncle and 2 cousins snuck out to buy a budgie as a suprise. But they didnt know so they went to the pet store I !! It has puppy mill puppies and birds crammed into tiny cages!  Well those people just proved to me they knew nothing about birds either!! They said we could put the budgies together right away, without mentioning quarintine!! They also said that Lolo was a , I'm pretty sure its a pied 'keet, and Cheeta told me that you cant tell which gender pieds are at that young! (thanks Cheeta, and BTW Lolo's cere is light pink, and thats a usual baby budgie cere colour) They said that 'loha was 6 months old, hopefully they were right about that! Poor little keet sits in its bowl to eat, probably with those overstocked cages, the little keet had to sit in the bowl to keep other birds from kicking it off!!! I love my little keet already, and its still in quarintine!

JUNE UPDATE- Little Aloha is doing wonderfully! She is in figaro's cage and now she's flying!

               Foster Birds

I'm going to start to foster parrots for a rescue. My first foster birds will be 2 untame, baby disabled green cheek conures. Their names are Peg (she has only one leg, the other's a stump) and Marvin ( a bit of his beak is missing)

I'm picking them up probably next week.

                                                                                                                           Ringo the Budgie

"Ringo" was my first bird. He was a skycloud blue or whatever colour that is. I loved him SO much and I am still sad about him! He came into my life on Boxing Day, 2003 and died in March 2003. I didn't have him that long but it felt like I'ld had him all my life. I would play a game called "Budgie Kindergarten" with him and my friends. Basicly we would just talk to him and feed him treats but it was fun! Then I found out my one friend was allergic to feathers and that ended Budgie Kindergarten. Then all my friends (except for one) moved away. I'm trying to remember the happy and good things about Ringo, not his (I'm not going to talk about it). Right now he's buried outside my house in a Kleenex box. I love you birdie!

[I'll scan on some Ringo Pictures when I can]
