Hello, and Welcome to my Homepage!

My name is Chelsea, and I am the proud parent of 2 fids (and a farm of others!). "Cosmo" is my albino 'tiel, and he is 3 years old. "Little Dudette" is my budgie, and she is 2 years old. I love them both very much, and soon I will be sharing that love with another fid, a Dusky Conure.

My fids are both flighted, and their favorite thing is to fly. Cosmo is a great flier! They both LOVE broccoli, lettuce, plantain, and also millet. I love my fabies so much!

Here are some pictures of my current fabies:

In the Beginning....

I had always wanted a fid--since I was about six years old. I would run around with a stuffed bird strapped to my arm  I was quite obsessed. I got my first fid in about 5th grade--a very untame budgie named Peggy Lee. She was a one-legged blue bird. I loved her, although I am not sure that love really came back to me . She was more just living out a happy life, after being rescued by my vet. The owners wanted to put her down, since the dog attacked her. My vet didn't want to do that, so se mended her leg. Well, at one point she had escaped from her cage in the vet's office, and broke her OTHER leg . When she came to us she was all fixed up, but not so trusting of people (not that I could blame her ).  She did like her flat plaforms though . She was soooo cute! Peggy was a nice little birdy, just not what I had in mind....I sure did love her though, despite her not wanting anything to do with me.

(sadly i didn't get my digital camera until recently, and therefore Idon't have a picture I can get on my computer )

She passed away a few years later, after a peaceful last few years May she rest in peace

In 7th grade, my grandmother was in the hospital. My mom would let me go to the pet store with my sister (who could drive), where I fell in love with the 'tiel. Cosmo. She would then take me to the hospital where my mother was, and I would tell her all about my birdy experiences of the day. Well, finally she caved, after I wrote a 2 page list of WHY I should have a 'tiel. I brought him home the day after Thanksgiving, in 2002.

Next, a year later, I went to the pet shop for some fid food, and there were new 'keets in. They would all run away when approached--except for one. Dude. He would follow me all over the bird room from his cage. He came home with us

In the Future....

Next, I am hoping for a Dusky Conure. They are so sweet and docile, yet playful too. I love my current fabies, but would like a bigger bird too. I can't wait! My parents have already agreed. I think mostly because I was going to Europe for my AP European History class, but because of the bird flu and the general political situation there, I am not going anymore...I am almost glad, since now I get a conure!!! I still have to buy it myself (including his stuff), so I need to get about $500 at least. I can raise the money by Christmas I think, because of my pet sitting and dog training business .

Change of Plans

Today, on the way to my parents' Christmas party (ugh), I got my parents to drop me off at the Fin 'N Feather pet store while they went Christmas shopping for my nephew.

I went to the back of the store where the fids are kept. There were 2 amazons, 4 blue crowned conures, 2 senegals, and 1 little green cheeked conure. He came to the door of the cage. I asked to take him out, and he stepped-up. He immediately bobbed his head, spread his wings and danced around showing off for me. He chewed my hair, and climbed up my head. He was so precious and playful. I learned of the nippy GCC ways, but it was okay. I liked how playful he was. He was obvioulsy hyper, and wanted to hang out.

The woman was sooo nice. She cared for all the birds, and the 2 senegals were IN LOVE with her. A lady had come in and wanted to play with the senegal, but as soon as they got out they wouldn't leave her shoulder. it was awesome how socialized and bonded to the employee they were.

the little GCC wasn't like that with the pet store worker though. he only bobbed and played with me, and the woman who worked there was surprised at how sweet he was to me. "he can tell you are a bird person," Very Happy she said. When a guy came in to see the GCC she said "well he's nice, but i think he is pretty set with this young lady." It made me so happy to hear, it was obvious she thought that the GCC should be with me. ( and i don't think it was just a sales technique! LOL)

He was being kept in a smaller-sized flight cage, (just perfect size for a pet store bird), and he was FINE with the smaller flight cage bars. The store had a nice large flight-tyoe cage, and I think I am just going to get that one since I know that he is okay with that kind of cage.

I put him on hold, and on monday I am going to put a $100 deposit on him. He costs $300 Shocked , but well worth it.

I am sooooo excited!!!! I can't believe it! I will name him "Kermit." Very HappyHe even croaked. LOL. They said i can keep on deposit for 2-4 weeks, so by then i will have my pet-sitting money to pay for him. I will have to wait at least 3 weeks though Confused . All well, it will make it that much more exciting to have him home!!! Very Happy

GCC Kermit--Coming home in 3 weeks

Today we went to the pet store and I put a $100 deposit on Kermit, my new GCC. He is deathly cute, and he sat on my shoulder and played with my hair.

I FOUND OUT HE IS ONLY 12 WEEKS OLD!!!! i am so glad he is younger than I thought.

He loves playtop cages (he kept jumping on them), but I found a wrought iron cage there (dometop) for $199.99. I can save up for it! LOL
