M ovie: Peach & Tomato (4,258 KB) Movie: Ricky 'music' video (4,909 KB) Let me introduce you to Ricky my Mexican red lored Amazon. I found him in quite a bad shape at a local market in Mexico City, he was in a tiny cage they told me he was about 3 months old. I had to do some forced hand feeding because he was not eating at all and was very "sleepy" so I went running to my local store and bought a lot of baby food, specially apple ones as I figured out he loved that flavor. He begun eating lot and started screaming so loud every times he got hungry about 4 times per day. I knew he was going to get well because he started to be more active and begun eating by himself about a week later. Now he is about 5 months old, he is beautiful, and I start to know him better. The picture above was taken a week after I bought him. 
This one was taken 2 months after. His favorite meals are : (in order of preference) Apple, eggs (omelette without oil), salad, sunflower seed, carrots, tomatoes, melon, bananas, italian pasta, rice, exact rainbow type food, penauts... I tired to give him the most healthy meal posible my mixing the above, specially carrots for vitamine A. He loves taking showers, but only when I am taking one too, he takes a bath once per week. My girlfriend has a Labrador Retriever and they get along quite well even when Ricky loves bitting her tail or nose, but still the dog wont get mad and eat him, well at least for now. I never leave him without supervision when playing with the dog. I am 21 years old and I loved parrots since I was 13, I had have in mind for some time now in building a Mexican red laured Amazon refuge. My uncle owns a big Ranch near Mexico City an ideal whather for parrots and lots of space for my 20 x 20 Mts. cage for breeding. I want to re-introduce parrots were they no longer exsist due to human intervention, I know it sound hard but I am making saving for my project and my first step is getting Ricky a Mate. I am looking thru the camera Lens, amazing.......

We just bought them (October 1st 2005). They are so nice, but have so opposite personalities. For example, Peach is extremely friendly and loves to be taken pictures whereas Tomato is a bit aggressive and sometimes shy. My parrot Ricky tries to teach them to talk, I hope he succeeds.
