SweetPepper Enjoys the Breakfast of Champion Birdies; CHEERIOS!
HI! My name is SweetPepper. I'm a 2 1/2yr old female senegal parrot. I was born May 20th, 2003 and was adopted by my parront Teri on July 3rd,2003. I love my parront and home even though I share it with 2 other cockatiels. Maxi was first bird of the house, he's a normal grey tiel and is 13yrs old. The newest member of the house is a 4 1/2month old female cinnamon tiel named Kacey. She is one bundle of energy and keeps my Mom on her toes. I do miss my other brother, Digger. He was a male normal grey tiel approx age 8 1/2yrs and was rescuded yrs ago by my parront. He was found outside, he somehow escaped from his previous owners and they could not be found. Digger died very suddenly and unexpectantly in June of 2005. We are still getting over his loss. He was a very quiet bird and didn't cause any problems. He also had a beautiful whistle. My Mom is still very sad over his loss. I reside in Joliet, Ill with my parront and brother and sister tiels. I love to get lots of new toys to chew and destroy. My Mom says I'm hard on toys. She wants to sign me up as a toy tester.to get them uploaded onto my homepage. This is me eating and playing with an ice cube. I really like ice. Here I am sitting on my new comfy perch I got for christmas. Here I'm stealing some peanuts. Don't I look pretty? I'm told I'm a very pretty bird. This is Maxi, he's 13 1/2 yrs old, a senior bird. Here's Maxi rocking with his parront, my Mom. This is Kacey, 10 mos old, a female cinnamon tiel. These were Kacey's first eggs laid. She was DNA sexed a male by a vet.(NOT!) One year ago today, June 11, 2005 Digger died suddenly and unexpectently. He was a quiet male grey tiel with a beautiful whistle. He was fun to watch play and to listen to his stories. He was found outside at my brother's house sitting on my sister's car. He was very tame and got right onto her hand. She brought him to my house knowing we had a extra cage. The neighborhood was canvased and vets were checked. No one claimed him. We took him to our vet the next day and had him checked out. He was a bit scruffy, feathers a mess and underweight. Vet said he had been out in the wild for a few weeks. It took about a year for him to completely settle in and become part of the family. It also helped him by watching Maxi our family tiel who was 6yrs old then. We didn't know Digger's age. He lived with us for 7 1/2yrs. I miss Digger a great deal, I look at his pictures a lot. I just wish I had taken a lot more of him. I'm also glad I saved his feathers that he molted. This is a favorite picture of Digger in his box hut that he played in on the couch. He had many toys in the box to keep him entertained. ( the fav pic is at the bottom of the page) This is a favorite picture of Digger sitting on my CD/Cassette/AM/FM radio stereo. I play nature music with birds in it and Digger sits with his animal friends and whistles along with the music. He really enjoyed spending time in my room listening to music and playing. Digger was playing in my room at the time that he suddenly died. I will never forget his whistles. This is a pic of Digger whistling to birdy music and hanging out with his animal friends. Sitting on top of my CD player was a favorite place he liked to hang out. He was music loving bird.
DIGGER: Adopted Sept 29, 1998 Died June 11, 2005 WE MISS YOU DIGGER!! This is a picture of Digger in his box hut that was kept on the couch.
We still keep the box hut on the couch, SweetPepper has a fit when we try to remove it. She sits on top of the hut and looks in , I think she's looking for Digger. She would sit on top and watch Digger play in his box hut and chirp at him. They weren't close but they tolerated each other. I think she still misses Digger. Here are some new pics of SweetPepper and some of Maxi:
SweetPepper being queen of all she sees.
Here she is admiring herself in the mirror. Oooh what a very Pretty Bird am I!!!
Heres Maxi finishing his bath in my Mom's hair. He usually starts in the sink but he loves to rub himself in my Mom's freshly washed hair.
Maxi is out strolling across the floor towards his pet tent. He has a birdie blankie in it from Gonzo's birdcakes website.
This is Kacey, female cinnamon tiel age 1yr. She loves to sit in her pet tent.
This pic and next one are of Kacey bathing in the sink.
Ain't I a Pretty Bird? Pretty Bird!!!!!

I think I'll do some sailing today.
This is Pepper working very hard on her leather toy. She eventually shredded the entire toy. She now has a new one that is thicker and she is bound and determined to destroy it also. She spends a total of 2hrs each day working on it.
This is Pepper getting ready to play her favorite game of 'lets toss the washrag onto the floor'. I'll pick it up and toss it back to her and she tosses it on the floor again. She'll play the game till she's tired of it.
Here's Pepper after a good bath.
This is Kacey eating my breakfast before I can. She does love her cereal in the morning.
This is Kacey and Maxi sharing cereal. Maxi gets disgusted with Kacey at times. He's a bit upset in this picture, he doesn't like sharing with her. I hope to take more pictures soon of my fids to update my homepage.
Maxi preens his gorgeous feathers.
Here is Pepper checking out BoBo the senegal on fluffies. Kacey napping in tent.
This is me and Pepper hanging out watching TV. She loves to cuddle.

Hey Kacey, stop hogging up the food, it's my turn in the food dish.
I wonder what's up there?

Pepper guards her apple slice. Apples are great for breakfast, don't touch mine!
Hmmmmm, I wonder what could be down there?
Here I come, ready or not.

Maxi tries to get those hard to reach spots.
Here's one very distinguished SweetPepper!
Here's Maxi on top of Kacey's cage. He thinks since she spends time in his cage, he should have equal time in her cage. Fair is fair.
Pepper wanted to check out Focker on his homepage and to see what all the fuss is about a jollyball. I hope to get one for her soon, maybe from santabird.
Kacey the tail-less tiel eating breakfast. She lost her long tail at the vets and then she broke her one midsize yellow barred tail feather. check out her diary page of Kacey the tail-less tiel to learn of her misfortune of loosing tail feathers.
Pepper is trying to sneak up behind my Dad. "Don't tell him I'm back here!" New updated pics: 8/30/06
Pepper is sitting on her comfy perch after having unhooked one end of it. I fixed it once and she unhooked it again, so I left it as is. She then got on it and was checking it out. " How do I fix this now?"
Here's Pepper eating her millet snack before bedtime. She was on my finger waiting to give goodnight hugs to my mom and dad before being put to bed. In the meantime she was eating the last bit of millet and wasn't about to put it down till she was done.
"Where did my dinner go? It was here 5 minutes ago. The help around here is just impossible!" "I wasn't even done yet! Waiter!!!"
"Let's check out and see what goodies brother Maxi has in his cage." "I never get seeds, only pellets and fresh foods and birdie bread from Gonzos. Why can't I have some seeds too Mommy?"
"DO YOU MIND! I'm trying to eat! Some privacy would be nice, pleeeze!"
"I'm not sure, but I do believe this is my best side. Don't you agree?"
Here's Capt Pepper, commanding her ship. "Ships Ahoy Maties!" Pepper out for a stroll.

"Ain't I a cutie?"
Stretching to start the day.
Pepper's Domain! Beware of the senegal! Here's a collage I made of my birds icons and airbrushed pics curtesy of cheekie_birdie and link to stained glass website. It was a lot of fun to make!
Another birdie collage.
This is a fun way to add lots of birdie pics and take up less space. More pics to come soon. I've got to work on my fids beauty contest photos! Sept 6, 2006 Update: Kacey is growing a tail once again. It is about 2 1/2 inches long so far. There are 3-4 midsized tail feathers and one long tail feather growing in right now. We are keeping our fingers crossed that she doesn't break them. She won't know what to do with tail feathers since she hasn't had any since she was a bappie. I will add a photo soon when gets a bit longer. Also a photo of her tail now. Hope to have updated tail pics in about 2 weeks. See you all then. Sept 12, 06 Update on Kacey's tail with pics: Kacey's tail is now approx 4 inches long. We have been carrying her around this weekend due to she hurt her leg sometime during the nite on Friday. She woke up with a bad limp, swollen left leg and very bruised. As of today, the swelling has gone down considerably, the bruising is fading and she only has a very slight limp when she walks. I was afraid that we might have to take her to the vet for x-rays, and of course our vet doesn't have weekend hours. I watched her closely all weekend and I checked her leg out and it didn't seem broken. I am so relieved that she is okay. In Kacey's 1 year 3 months of life she has had a lot of problems. I hope they lessen as she gets older. Here are some updated pics of Kacey and her tail progress:
This pic shows Kacey with her very short tail after having lost her tail feathers. She just had a bath in this pic.
As Kacey eats spaghetti, you can see her tail feathers sprouting out. The very left tail feather for some reason curls outward instead of laying flat. You can also see a feather that we had to cut when she broke it.
Here's the most recent pic of Kacey's growing tail feathers. They don't seem to want to grow in flat and straight. They kind of curl up or have breaks in the barbs of the feathers. I'm hoping that if she keeps these tail feathers when grown in, and then eventually molts them, maybe they will grow in better next time and be pretty tail feathers. If not, we love Kacey anyway, tail or no tail. I just want her to be safe and healthy and happy. I will update again with photo when tail gets even longer. keep your fingers crossed that she can keep her tail feathers. Sept 14,06 Update Homepage: Birdies have fun with spaghetti!
Kacey and maxi share my mom's plate of spaghetti.
Kacey tackles the mound of tasty spaghetti. Saghetti Beak.

Pepper enjoys her spaghetti in the comfort of her cage. Any more spaghetti left?
Sept 21, 06 UPDATE: Kacey's tail and leg Kacey's leg has finally and totally healed. She can now run across the floor without any limping. The bruising and swelling are all gone. I am just so glad that nothing more serious was wrong with her leg. We have figured out that she took a bad fall one night while in her cage sleeping. I hope it doesn't happen again. Now as to her tail, it is now approx 5 1/2 - 6 inches long. I have taken some updated pics and will post them hopefully sometime this weekend. She now has to learn to preen her tail to make it look pretty. We keep telling her to watch Maxi preen his long tail so she will get the hang of it. She hasn't had a tail for over a year and I don't think she knows what to do with it. Right now its kind of scruffy looking but she has a tail and I hope she can keep it. Hooray for Kacey!!!!!!! Kacey's tail at about 4 1/2 inches.

Pepper gets belly scritches. "No more mom, I can't take any more scritches, it tickles."
"Going up please" Oct 3,2006 Update:
Kacey's tail is now 6 inches long. As soon as I download pics and resize them, I will post them to diary and homepage. She did loose one of her leftside yellow barred short tail feathers. It was the one that curled up and stuck out from her body. I think that the feather follicle may be damaged and won't hold the feather. Her long tail feather may not be pretty, but she still has it. Am trying to teach her to preen it. She still isn't used to having a tail.
I just love Snoopy and Woodstock!
I will soon be working on updating my homepage and diary pages with new pics of the Fids, just have to get them out of camera and resize them. 10-8-06 UPDATE: Kacey's Got A Tail!!!!!!
Here's the long awaited pic of Kacey with her long tail. It may not be pretty or perfect, but she has a tail and she hasn't broken it yet!
Kacey's long tail! She lost the barred tail feather that is turned sideways, it just fell out one day. I think the follicle might be damaged so the feather won't hold when done growing. Kacey now needs to learn to preen her tail feathers. Not all of the short tail feathers have grown in yet. will have to wait and see how it does.

Not to be out done by baby sister Kacey, Here's some pics of me! I AM THE BIRD IN CHARGE!!

Scratching an itch!

Looking down over my domain! I am the bird that rules the house! All others shall obey my rules! SweetPepper the Queen!

HAPPY 70th BIRTHDAY to my Mom!
10-23-06 UPDATE
The 70th surprise birthday party for my mom was a hit. She was very surprised, she had no clue. She thought that my sister was taking her out to eat because she had to work on her birthday. My mom's best friend offered to host the party at her house. My Dad and I had to make up some excuse to leave the house before my mom so we could get to the friends house before she got there. It was tricky but it all worked out. I'll add pics when I get them downloaded off my camera. I got a good pic of the surprised look on her face. Update: 11/21/06 The Surprise 70th Birthday Party Pics!
This is the surprised look on my Mom's face when she walked into her friend's house. She thought she was there to pick her up with my sister to go out and eat. Was tricky for me and my Dad to leave the house before my sister came to pick her up. It was a big surprise.
my mom blowing out her birthday candle. 70 individual candles were not going to fit on the cake. It was a great tasting cake, my brother was responsible for getting the cake.
Grandma celebrating with her 3 grandsons. They are my brothers boys. My sister, aunt Winnie, is in the background. New birdie pics: 11/21/06

Hey, Mom what got to drink in that there glass? Think maybe I can try some? Pepper was thirsty and she came over to check out what I was drinking. She loves to steal the ice cubes out of my glass and eat them.
Maxi and Kacey hanging out together on Maxi's cage. They spent a lot of time together while my mom was away in Aruba for a week. Kacey eats millet from outside the cage. Silly girl.
Maxi and Kacey sitting together on Kitchen chair.
Sunning themselves on chair in living room.
I'm thirsty Mom! Pepper worked hard at climbing to top of my glass to get at my straw. She loves to eat and destroy my straw, its a game to her. Luckily I have lots more. More pics to come soon!
Cardinal in winter.

Kacey's temporary sleeping area, the laundry basket. Kacey spent about 6 weeks sleeping in here till she was strong enough to get back into her cage. She now sleeps in her cage but all the perches are lowered and the floor of the cage raised.
Vet visit day, all birds went in for birdie checkups, wings and nails clipped. Pepper doesn't mind the vet but Kacey is tired of going to the vet. Kacey speaks her mind when she sees the vet and I don't think its good.

Kacey in her green cast for her Right broken wing. See Diary page Kacey's Wing Trauma for details.

Here I am in my revamped cage. My parronts raised the floor up and lowered my perches to make it easier for me to get around. Also they put in a few ladders for me to use. Maybe one day my cage will be back to normal for me. I'm doing pretty good now. Read my updated diary page when posted. Maxi & Kacey
