Hello,
First of all I appreciate you taking the time in writing a comment on my site.
There is something I have to say, my parrot name is Ricky, I know that my nickname can lead to mis understanding, people I know who have seen my site all of them told me “your Gonzo parrot is so great” hehe…
I just posted a Video I hope you take the time to watch it, I am having trouble with the geocities server because of the transfer limit but I should put another link some time soon.
Every one around me is going crazy with Ricky’s site, so far it has been a hit, and I am glad you liked to. |

I would like to thank “Ksue”, “Cathy” and “Greg Sujecki” for posting comments, I found them all very constructive and kind.
I will have a busy week, but I am seeking some time free for uploading more pictures.
Ricky has a new friend, a beautiful Love Bird similar to Flit who just arrived last week end to the amazing Guillen family. Ricky is a bit temperamental with other birds, but I hope they will get along and get some pictures to you as soon as possible.
Thank you all,
Emiliano |

Hello,
Nice to meet your amazon parrot. I am from Belgium, living since 23 years in Mexico and one month ago I bought near the road close to Nayarit an amazone finschi. It´s a little bit different then your parrot. IAfter searching in Internet I found out it´s a forbidden and protected bird by the law in Mexico, bur you know how in Mexico everything is possible. We went to the market "sonora" in Mexico city because I wanted to buy a grey african parrot, but it costs on the market 10 000 pesos, in Liverpool costs 25.000 pesos. I don´t have so much money. I want to be in contact with you to talk about how protecting birds in Mexico. My parrot is in the Holland side under the name indehert.
Greetings, Ingrid |

Hello,
First of all, what ever you do don’t buy anything at the Mercado de Sonora! Well you can buy your cage there, they have very good prices but again, don’t buy anything living in there, trust me.
I tell you this, because all animals are under such bad hygiene, birds are mixed with dogs, rats, and who knows what else. They have them all on very small cages, like 10 animals by cage which is outrageous. You have 90% chances to get a sick bird, and if you already own birds, you can even infect your birds.
I know liverpool is expensive, but they have Federal permission in selling those birds, and will give you al the documentation required by Mexican law. Liverpool does have sometimes financing; you can buy it up to 25 months which is a lot easier to pay. There is a place called Maskota which has also Federal approval but never does financing, but your bird gets a 2 year insurance in case anything bat happens, I don’t know African grey prices but Macaws cost 45,000 pesos like 3,500 Dls. I know a man, who has been selling birds for 25 years or so, and he has no Federal approval, but I know him for some time, and his birds a treated like kings compared to the Mercado the Sonora. He does breeding of certain species, and has fair prices. I asked for an African Grey, and he told me 6,000 pesos. You have to be lucky in knowing some one like him. In the Mercado de Sonora, let me describe it like this; it’s only bad people who don’t care about animals just about money. My parrot is not legal, he has no ring, and I think he is on second place on the extinction list. What I am seeking is breeding, they become sexually mature until 4 years, so no easy task but I am willing to try. And if I succeed I want to re-introduce the species in a huge ranch an uncle of mine owns here in Mexico. I saw your bird, very nice one, I noticed you had an metal ring in his cage I suggest you to buy a wood one, he’s nails grow fast and need a lot of wood. You can get everything, a little expensive but worth it for food and accessories at www.maskota.com.mx there should be one near you.
Anything you need, please ask, it would be a pleasure to help you.
And hope you get lucky in finding your African grey but please check out the place were you are going to buy it first, make sure they love animals not money.
Best regards.
