Make sure to get your bird to a vet for a well checkup. At least the vet can let you know if Polly is healthy or not since the person who sold her to you knows nothing of birds. |

Your pearl is so beautiful. Did you check for barring under the tail? That'd help you figure out if he/she is a she (female's have barring). Her/His cheek patches look fairly bright/colorful though... |

thanks for teh comment on my homepage Barring under the tail, is, basically, black/dark gray lines across the feathers. After they are fully fledged, male cockatiels will lose the bars beneath their tail feathers, but the female's will retain them. |

The black line you're refering to is the quill- you'll see that in most genders, and in any bird. I looked at the photo of the tail closely- your bird definately looks like a 'he'. And he's got bright cheek patches too, another tipper. |

hmmm....
that is a GOOD question! lol
It's a lot of hard work, and my parents and I are always doing something for them or with them, but it's worth the love they give you in the end...
luckily my mom is UBER organized, so we have everything scheduled....
without my parents, I couldnt do it thats for sure..... |

Very nice looking Tiels
- If your Polly, the pearl, is over a year old & has gone thru a full molt & still has pearl marks - Polly is a girl. Male Pearls loose the lovely pearling & have solid coloured wings with white tips.
I love the white tail - that would probably mean Polly is a pied as well.
Here's a great Tiel link - if you don't know it already - http://www.cockatiels.org/arti.....tions.html
Here are 2 pages from the same breeder site, in my area -

females: http://www.geocities.com/hwaviary/HWA2.html
PS - thanks for the nice comment on my homepage. |

Sorry for not answering soon, but I was out of Cyprus for a week. Yes, my Grey Sylia is talking. Non-stop almost! But I and my hubby love her very much, so.... she is spoiled baby! Greay are wonerful birds, my is so lovegiving! I actuly feel her love! But like any other baby, she needs a lot of attention and time to play! If you have it, then a Grey will be perfect for you!
Good luck with you decision! (I hope I didn't make many mistakes , I don't write very well in english.) |
