Well today was a pretty quiet day, had to be after the day we all had yesterday! It was cage cleaning day. Kids helped me esp with the big cages. all my birdies seemed to love it tho'getting sprayed and then sitting in the sun. Sammie has been very affectionate lately, I love it and Otis is blending into our family just fine tho he is still shy and not one to come out of his cage easily. I am torn...should I force him out or should I wait until he is ready? I leave his cage door open and he will climb out and hang on the door...sometimes he hangs around so that I can pet him but other times he runs right back into his cage.
emmie is still very upset, does not like anyone by her cage at all...have to force her out of her cage toh andle her but then she is a sweetie. Typical qp behaviour I guess. Well thats it for now.

Hi Tia,what type of birds do you have, how old are they ,let us know about them, you mentioned scared to come out...That's okay for you bird is only exploring its surrondings, intice it a little with a treat when it come out and bring the treat further away bit by bit every time,be patient also sometime's the bird won't do anything them other times everything.I believe never force it out for it will remember the fright of being forced out,if it comes out, in time it will surprise you.. Smile

I have a number of birds, 2 tiels who are very sweet and love to be handled all the time! I have a lovebird who is just happy to live with us and not be handled . My budgie is the same. they both love it when i come to them and chatter witht hem but they just don't like the touchy stuff. My quaker is very territorial at the moment and is being a challenge. My two greys are my big babies, they are the most adorable birds ever! My one grey sam is a lover, he goes bonkers when he sees me, Otis is special as well but is not very comfortable being handled. But we have all the time in the world at the moment so I will be patient and wait for that magical day!

ok, so this is the only way I can journal since the diary does not work, at least for me. Today emmie was moved form the family room to the living room which really is more of the family room than the other. She seems to have taken it in stride. She sits close enough to my chair so that she can jump to it when she wants. She loves to preen my hair. The tiels have been doing just great.....Sammie does notlike to come out of her cage but her partner Sweetie loves to be out...usually looking for someone, anyone who would give him attention. Otis is mad...had his wings clipped, Sam had his clipped too and it didn't faze him.....he has been going out with me everyday and he loves it. He gets excited now when I mention the word "outside" boy they learn quick!
