Is it normal for a 9 month old to regurgitate? I know this is a sign of 'love' but so soon?
Jibby and Yoda were playing together on the floor. Yoda was getting very excited and was chattering away to Jibs! Then I noticed Yoda started bobbing his/her head and doing 'the dance'. Yoda then 'fed' my Jibby! I just didnt think they'd do this at a young age.
Yoda is still the dominant lil baby, but they both love to play together and hate being separated.
I'm just shocked because its my baby birdy feeding my 7 year old! What is going on? Jibby is such a big baby!
They've been lil silly chickens lately. Running around on the floor, talking to each other and playing games. They still wont prene each other yet. Not that close. But they are just chilling out in Jibbys cage right now, having a nap and happily grinding beaks.
Is this normal behaviour for a 9 month old? They amaze me everyday. |

well I don't know about IRN, but in budgies, baby budgies as young as 6 weeks old will regurgitate for love and affection... it's normal for them to feed those that they are fond of. It doesn't have to mean a 'courting' gesture, but rather a I really like you and I want to feed you gesture. Well that is true to budgies anyway.. hehe |

I think it's pretty normal...I mean, I don't have an IRN, but it's a good sign...
I've seen a 7 wk old 'Tiel feed his younger sibling....
it's sweet that Yoda loves Jibby!!! |

Thankyou, How adorable is it. Sounds yuck but to them its 'I just like you. Have some of my food.'
When Yoda arrived home, I had a quarantine period and slowly introduced them for a few hours a day. But as soon as I moved Yoda into the 'main room' where Jibby was, Yoda immediately tried to take over everything of poor Jibbys. Who hadnt had any competition since he was a lil chick! Almost 7 years of luxury until lil Yoda came along! lol.
Yoda definately took over and told him what is going to happen. They've never had real physical fights, just Yoda will lunge at Jibby if Yodas not happy with something. Yoda gets extreemly jealous when I give Jibby a treat and not him/her. But Jibby is always good and Yoda is 'learning'.. slowly!
I thought Jibby was scared of Yoda but he gets a lil more 'game' everyday. They inch closer and closer. Funny how the babies have no worries in the world! But my big boy Jibby is scared of a lil baby! hehe.
Its so cute how they get along now. Yoda tells Jibby what to do and when and Jibby follows Yoda around like a bad smell. But Yoda cant let Jibby out of sight. So funny.
As for factors of why this is so, I'm really not sure. They seem to make up their own minds as to which bird they like and dislike and I don't think it matters if they are a different species.
Also, I don't know Yodas sex yet and female IRNs are the more dominant of the species. But then I'm confused because Yoda does the 'male dance'. I'll just have to wait for the ring to come through if Yodas a boy. |

I don't know, but Scuttle, who was born ehmmm july 31 last year also does this for Wheezy. I think they're just 'early birds'??
Don't be shocked by this.. Scuttle also feeds Iago by the way, who is 8 years old. |
