| Comfort Zone? Has your parrot got one. |
|
|
My Mylo now ventures out with me to meet people all over the place, one thing l noticed that is interesting that he has a comfort zone.Meaning when someone approaches or is talking to me, if they get within a metre away from me he scream's in an alarming voice.Today l took him to my daughters primary school for the first time. When someone walked past an noticed him, they stopped and walked with me,because they were within that metre zone he screamed at them.I had to explain the comfort zone to them and when they kept there distance walking he was fine.Just like a visiting bird that is not in our flock...And boy did he get everyone's attention when he screamed very funny it was, for it was home time so it was very busy How many of you own a parrot that has a comfort zone or is it just that Mylo is still young and not ready to understand/used to it? |

I don't know about this behavior..
My parrots don't scream at people.. Iago will try to seduce them LOL!
Zazu is not very interested in other people, except children.. |

good to hear ,thats why l thought l would ask.Might be because Mylo is new to this stage in his training meeting people in the open,he might be getting cocky and training me...?? Mylo screams ,people move back.. know what l mean... ? Though this was a primary school full of kids running around at bell time. |

He he he I think Mylo really learned those people a trick!
But, with the mayhem of a school, I can understand he is a bit 'on his guard'.. |

today i took Mylo to the local playground where he was more relaxed, thought if l can take him somewhere where there are lots of kids he will get used to the mayhem,he was only worried when someone came from behind with the stroller, but will get used to it |

Great to hear that he was more relaxed!
Perhaps you can bring a toy for him, when you two are on an adventure?
You can play with his toy together, so he'll think there's nothing to worry.. (As you don't just play when there's something to worry about)
Or perhaps you can eat something? I found this works very well with Zazu. He seems to be more relaxed then! |
