They are cuties! I love this type of blue color! Don’t worry, lots of pics – that’s super! Maybe you should make a homepage with all of them…
I would like to see each and every one of them! |

Your birds are beautiful I love the colors in the mature males. Is the blue one a female or a young male? I love blue in birds.

Thankyou,
I have not had Yoda DNA tested, I think I would rather wait. Still another year or so until we know if Yoda is a lil girl or a lil boy. He/she is only 9 months old now. Its exciting! I cannot be sure, but I see alot of 'male' behaviour in Yoda. Yoda does the 'trance dance' to alot of things. Only the males do this. But of course I cannot be 100% sure. Yoda also has very fat feet. And I've read the females tend to have chunky feet. hehe. You can't notice in the pictures, but Yoda is a lil smaller than Jibby. Could be just growing up from the feet first!.
Yoda is also very dominant and very snappy at the moment. We are working on calming him/her down.
I was originally going to get another green. But I couldnt resist the blue.
Yep, I didnt see the 'homepage' section. I will make one for sure.

Hi Lauren.
I'm sorry but I had to change your pics to link as the forum admin wants to keep the forum at a faster speed, so therefore no direct links to pics. sorry again.
But they are gorgeous birds!! I love Jibby, I just how striking he looks with his ring around his neck. Yoda is gorgeous too.. I hope you are able to 'modify' his behaviour. good luck |

wow, Amir,
You have a gorgeous bird. As soon as I saw the beak I thought young Alexandrine? Female? I presume if shes an older bird. When did you get her?
Its normal for them to rub and scratch the beak on alot of surfaces as this naturally wears down and sharpens the beak and it also feels good to them.
As for color.. Do you feed your bird pellets? Because I've only just (in the last 6 months) converted my 2 onto pellets and its seems that they have got more vibrant colors in the feathers and the beak really lit up like rudolf the red nosed reindeer! hehe. They also get alot of brocolli, carrot, apple and corn. They've also just started eating pumpkin and they love it.
My baby Yodas beak wasnt in a good way at around 6 months. It was all flakey and scratched. But I think Yodas beak was growing because it came out bigger (and stronger) after the flaking went away.
So lots of chew toys (for the beak) and some good pellets (for color). I couldnt believe the changes in how my 2 looked after a week on pellets, especially my big boy. He really lit up!
I also had my older one weighed and he is a healthy weight for his age of 7 years. Have you had your bird weighed yet? Looks so much like an Alexandrine. Is she? Because Alexandrines are bigger than IRNs. Its just your bird has a big beak or I could be wrong. [/i] |

Oh nah wait. On second looks. She is a IRN and looks quite young too. So she.. or he probebly still has some growing to do. But still a good healthy diet is best.
Sorry, I do that often. Type before I think.

I could be totally wrong and it cold be the light in the pic but Yoda's feathers around his neck look a little paler which is what my Shrek's feathers looked like when I first got him. He now has a strong, gorgeous black ring. Who knows? Maybe a little boy? |

Thanks Annabelle, I'm so sure of it. Yoda is such a lil boy. He does the 'man dance' perfectly. hehe. But I could be wrong.
Meero,
Please have a quarantine period (to be sure your new bird has no disease), keep them separated (in different rooms) and slowly introduce them, maybe for a few hours a day.
I DONT have them in the same cage. They have their own separate cages. I would not advise putting 2 different species in the same cage.
I did not do anything! Birds make up there own minds about who they like. Its up to the bird! Not all birds get along so don't expect too much from them!
And Yoda is not so friendly at the moment. Yoda is still not tame enough to come to me.
As I said, I did nothing to get them to like each other and they don't get along all the time. Yoda is very dominant. Do you get along with everyone you meet? Its all up to the birds themselves.
Oh, I don't know any online vets. Sorry.[/b] |
