Hi everyone,im just wanting to ask 2 quick questions about my Minty. He's an alexandrine parakeet and he's only 4 months old.First does anyone know when we will definately be able to tell whether he is male or female by the colour markings? At the moment Minty has a faint grey collar at the front and in the right light its looking like pinkish feathers around the back of the neck but could just be a trick of the light.
And also do Alexandrine have an oil gland round their back, almost at their bottoms,as Minty tends to rub this area alot with his head while preening.
Many thanks to anyone who maybe able to help.

Re: Minty the alexandrine parakeet
Yikes, I don't know about Alexandrines and being able to sex them by color. I would think that to make sure, you'd have to get him DNA tested.
