Two birds cohabitating new weird behavior ??????????????????  Reply with quote

HI, Just a question to anyone who has ever maybe seen this behavior. I have a 1 1/2 year old Indian Ringneck and a 2 year old Fischer's Love Bird. They share the same cage, and are free to roam about 80-90 % of the time and only if I have company or bringing in groceries or wood etc do they get locked up. Oh and also sometimes at night. ANYHOW, Just the past few days I have watched my IR doing what looks like some weird head thing, then what looks like making out with the love bird. If the love bird isnt paying attention then the IR will lift the lb head up by the beak then looks like they are kissing. I am not sure of the sex of my IR or my LB. Looks like my IR is just now maybe starting to get a ring, but it has looked like that for about 6 months, SO I am not really sure. HAS ANYONE EVER SEEN THIS??? MOst of the time its the IR being mean to the LB and chasing the LB all over the house... So for me to see them getting along and kissing is cute.. BUt is that what it is? mating? reurgitating? I have never seen any food with this behavior??? SO confused.. HELP!

So even if they dont have food at the time, they are feeding eachother.... weird. But that is what it looks like. So this is a good thing, like a love thing???

Hi coleen122871,

I think it is a bonding thing. I am not sure if it is any more than that.
