| ...escaped his cage!!!! :S |
|
|
I don't know how, or when, but at some point today Pepe managed to somehow get out of his cage . When I left home at midday he was in the cage and when my brother got home around 5:30 he found Pepe sitting on the fence happily whistling away! One of the food doors on the cage was open even though I always close them... Who knows how long he spent in the backyard wondering around! I'm so lucky that he didn't get lost or eaten by one of the neighbourhood :S. So many things could have gone horribly wrong but thankfully they didn't! My brother called me right away but I couldn't go home because I work late on thursdays , and Pepe wouldn't go to my brother. Eventually he managed to bribe Pepe into getting on his arm but then he wouldn't get into the cage. I told him to trick him with a plastic bag (Pepe is completely obsessed with them) and he fell for it and chased the bag into the cage . Once my brother had him locked he looked rather disappointed that his day out of the cage ended there. It was such a scare, I guess I'll have to secure the small doors on the cage too now :S. I'm so glad he's still with us and well though, I hate that I have to work tonight and can't go home to give him heaps of cuddles |

i guess it probably helped that he's used to spending time in the backyard with me there or watching him from the kitchen so he knows his way around the backyard and has a favourite spot on the fence where he likes to sit. I do wonder how much was luck that he stayed there and how much was his knowledge? Either way, he's still lucky that none of the local predators got him! :S phew... can't wait to cuddle him tomorrow morning |

Oh wow, that's scary
You are lucky that he didn't get lost or eaten.
I have bad memories with my birds escaping - years ago I had budgies and one of them flew away through an accidentally open window
Now my Booboo figured out how to open his cage so I have to keep an eye on the little smarty-pants. I have screens on all the windows now. |

Roxy has learned to work the combination locks that I tried to keep her in with.
I just gave up and leave her out now. |

Oh my gosh! How scary! I think the not being able to come home quickly would have tortured me! But I am glad to hear that it all ended well. |
