| second lorikeet? |

We have a 5 month old hand raised red collar lorikeet (named cheeky), we have been informed that in 2-3 weeks there will be 2 hand raised rainbow lorikeets available (we would be interested in getting 1) What advise do you guy's have for getting a second lorikeet. Cheeky is a pretty good bird and loves our children (aged 3years and 2 years) would we be creating a problem getting a second hand raised lorikeet. Would we wreck what we have with cheeky. |

I don't know a lorikeet, but people tell me that you don't want to mix lorikeet of opposite sexs. They will bond with each other. I have seen this with other birds. But with the same sex, I have been told, generally have good results. This comes from an experince breeder that I trust. But each bird reacts differently just like your kids. Good luck.. |

My parents had RuYi (rainbow lory) to start off with, and she was a gem. then we got them a second one Jishiang. to start off with Ruyi didn't want to play with my parents anymore, but now over time, she's her 'senses' is back, and now is just as sweet as she was before. I think once the novelty of a new bird had worn off she was back.. hehe.. (oh we don't know the sexes for these two rainbow lories my parents have.)
Like jrmno1 mentioned, you could never tell really as different birds will take to it differently. goodluck. |
