Is this normal? My budgie has a little problem.  Reply with quote

My budgie is about 1 or so years old and he is still not full grown. He still seems about a baby size maybe 6-8 months- I'm still just not sure if he's okay or not. He eats good diets and he is healthy i'm just not sure if he's okay or not. My budgie seems really different from all the other budgies I see.

Megan, do you mean that your budgie is just small of size? Some budgies are small, some budgies are bigger. My friend had a tiny budgie who was sooo cute!

Megan, like Sue had mention, some budgies are just small in size. generally budgies gets to their 'full grown' size at around that age, with acception to of course growing fatter.

Do you know how much your little ones weigh?

Nope, I couldn't tell you. I tried weighing him but the weighing scale didn't even feel him, the's that skinny. My lovebird is perfectly fine it's just that my budgie happens to be so skinny that my scale doesn't even feel him. Al though hes very adorable, and he's not sick. He's just very unusually small, should i take him to the vet? I"m kind of worried. Sad

what sort of scale do you use? I use a kitchen digital gram scales, and it measures at an increment of 1g. so it'll pick up anything that is more than 1g in weight (that's how I get my yeast right when I'm baking my bread).

Do you have a pic of your little one?

Hi there Smile
If you're really worried that your budgie might be under weight, why don't you take him to the avain vet for a check up? Even if nothing's wrong, it'll at least put your mind at ease.

Quite some time has passed - are there any developments? - yes Budgies can be small or big & skinny or fat. Exercise & good eating are the basic necessities for all animals.

Hope we hear everything is OK.
