Oh, look at her cute little toes! She is such a doll! Does she like to go on your shoulder? or not yet? |

OMG, she's so adorable She looks like she's very inquisitive & interested in the toy keys, has she's been playing with any toys yet? I know it's still quite early & she's getting used to her new home, but she looked like she might be going for those keys! |

Not yet. She will sit and be just fine with the cage door open and me sitting right there, but hand are scary for her. I can get about 5 inches away from her with my hand before she will squawlk and move away from me. I think it is good progress, especially so early!
She hasn't really played with any toys yet. Luna has touched the keys and touched the toy with the green bell. But that is about it. The green bell toy she did hang off of for a few minutes once.
She is very inquistive and smart! It was so cute to watch her figure out her food and water the first time! She could see the food in the clear plastic cup. She touched the bottom and realized it was solid. So she went to the side and bit the edge of the cup, then she perched on it and started to eat.
I think her inquisitive nature will make taming easier. And hopefully the switch from seeds to Harrisons. Luna will eat the Nutriberries if I crush them up. I think that is better than just seeds.

I'm so happy for you wys!! I'm thinking of getting a very lonely looking lovie at the pet store. How did you aquire your new baby? I feel so bad that his toes are missing I can't imagine what happened. If I saw him I would want to get him right away too just couse of the missing toes.
That's such a big cage! Your new Luna has hit the jackpot with you and he truely deserves it! |

I got her at a pet store. Since my breeder stopped replying to my emails, a pet shop was my only option. They did make sure to tell me about her toes, and they took $10.00 off the price! I had noticed them, but it was nice to see that they made sure I knew before buying.
I have good news too, but you'll have to see the brag forum!

I meant to comment about the cage size. Luna does look small in the cage doesn't she? LOL But once she gets used to it I bet she will like it. Right now she mostly sits on the one perch unless she is eating. I put a mirror beside the bottom perch yesterday, but I took it out today. Luna was screaming at it! LOL She was alone in a cage at the pet store, so maybe she doesn't get along with other bids well, even reflections!
And that you Chaquita's Mom for the comment about my Luna hitting the jackpot. That was sweet.

Wystearya, actually I read in a lovebird book that you shouldn't put a mirror in a lovebird's cage because the will fall in love with the reflection if they're a single lovebird, which may cause them to not bond with you and only obsess about the mirror image. |

Oh! Thank you for the info! I'll definitely not put the mirror back in the cage. Glad I only had it in there one day. Silly me!

Wys, I am almost SURE she will appreciate the cage! It's such a lovebird heaven! I can only imagine a hut in there, even then there would be enough room for Luna to run around like a mad birdy.. |

I was doing a little bit of researching on the lovies yesterday, in preperation of getting one , and I learned that owning one lovie is easier to train than 2 because they want to be a part of a flock and the family is the flock and if you have 2 they'll be more interrested in each other making training much harder. A mirror reflects an image of "another bird" so to speak. I guess it's a good thing he freaked out |
