| My New Lovie! PICS! |
|
|
Here is my new lovebird! I don't know what the color name is though. "He" is yellow with a white face, green back, and blue tail. Very colorful! His flight feathers are also white, though they are hard to see since they are trimmed. His right foot is missing all but one toenail (kind of like Papug's BoBo (is it BoBo or BooBoo?), and his from two toes are shorter than they should be. I'm calling him Tiny toes until I think of a better name.
Anyway, here are my first pictures!

He is actually much brighter in real life. I was trying to take them quickly so I wouldn't frighten him too much.
I'll have to be patient in taming him and I need to change his all seed diet. But I am SO happy to finally have a lovebird!
If anyone has any name suggestions please post them.

Ohhhh! Congratulations on Tiny! What a beautiful lovebird he or she is! I can't help the fact that I'm thinking I'm looking at a totally different bird when the photo is taking from the front/ instead of from the back.. What a huge variety in color he or she has! WOW!
How about a name that means something like Rainbow? (Referring to all those colors!) |

Thank you all, I'm so happy! Tiny Toes does look a lot like Pistachio doesn't he? And that you for the color name Shirin. He has just a touch of very light peach right above the beak. I wonder if there will be more peach after the first molt?
I don't know how old he/she is, but I am thinking fairy young. Some of the feathers on the head look like they just finished coming in. They kind of have a bit of the "new feather covering" left on the ends.
I'll definitely be naming him something else, I just have to come up with a fitting name. Maybe Poppy or Sweet Pea... I have also considered Sugar or Luna because of the white face.
I'm getting ready to order my first bag of Harrison's for my new lovie. he seems to like the smaller seed in his mix best. Do you think Super Fine is the kind I should order? Or maybe just Fine?
I know I will be around much more now that I have my LB.

He does look so different front to back! That is why I made sure to get pics of both to show off all his color. I think a name like Rainbow is a good idea. Or something colorful, like Poppy... Naming is so tough! I always want to pick the "perfect" name.

I'm pretty sure she will get more peach on her forehead when she gets older. Neither Pistachio nor Hazelnut had any peach on their face when they were babies, but now they both do. Here's them when they were babies

I like the name Luna a lot The others sound cute too.
I would say order the fine high potency pellets for now, but for some reason I couldn't get my lovebirds to try it They only wanted the big pellets, I guess cuz that's what Bunny has So I feed mine the high potency coarse, but I crush it up into small peices. You have to go through the bag in 4-6 weeks once you open it for freshness, and you definitely won't go through a 5 lb bag for just one little lovebird in 6 weeks, so order a 1 lb bag. Good luck in trying to convert her!
Oh, and MORE pictures please!!!! |

Oh I so much agree that naming is tough!!! Sometimes, we think of names and they fit, but other times.. I spent days on end to find a name for Nenya..
Why is Poppy colorful? (What kind of meaning?) |

Poppy is a kind of colorful flower. There are all different colors of Poppies.
I will definitely order the High Potency Harrisons. I think I am going to get the super fine grind, he really likes the small seeds. I got some Nutriberries and I have crushed them up with his food. I think he is eating them some too. At least it's a bit better than just seeds!
I'll take more pictures soon, I promise. Oh, and thanks for the baby pics of Pistachio and Hazelnut!

Ha ha, I am continually pointed onto my dutch nationality, because sometimes I don't understand things.. Sorry!
Are you sure to get the superfine grind? Not try the fine? Flit eats the fine and according to my avian vet, and most dutch people here, coarse is great for lovebirds. Yet Flit seems to prefer the fine? |

Oh no problem, noone understands everything, especially me!
I'm not really sure which grind to get. I've only seen pictures of Harrison's food, so I don't know how big each grind really is. I may get the Fine and if he doesn't eat it well I can grind it smaller if I need to.
I'll have some more pictures soon, I just need to upload them when I get time.
Still not sure on the name, I like Luna but my huby likes Sugar. I also thought of Opal.
