plucked feathers?  Reply with quote

well the breeder I choose to get my lovebird from actually got them from another breeder and the parents plucked most of the babies feathers. The bird I picked out is 5 weeks old and still doesn't have all of his feathers, I mean they are growing but the breeder seems to think my baby(he's the oldest one) will be ready in a week or two. Will it be ok to take him home if he is weaned but still doesn't have all his feathers? Confused

we went and visited them today. they are real cute! I will post some pictures a little later in my diary.

I read that sometimes the parents pluck the babies if they have mites. You might want to make sure that they don't have them. With taking a baby home even though it doesn't have all of its feathers (as long as it's weaned) should be okay. Just make sure he or she doesn't get too cold and to keep it out of direct sunlight as bare skin can get sunburned sometimes.
