My baby greenwing macaw is arriving on June 10th. Her name is Jazzmin and she is 4 and a half months old. I will be hand feeding her once a day. I have a nice spot for her cage and even a new boing. I sure hope my 2 year old male SI eclectus (Sully) likes her. I suppose one can never be sure. He is a nice little guy. Jazz I am told is a very nice gentle birdie and so far has been socialized. She likes everyone. We are so excited, it is just as exciting as having a baby. We bird people are so funny. Any tips on the introduction? Very Happy Question

Hey, congrats Alicia! How exciting!

Is Sully the only other bird you have? I really don't know much about the eclectus's, but I know that my B & G macaw loves it when around another bird, he just seems to like the company. I would certainly keep them well supervised though.

I'd let Sully get used to the idea of a new bird being around first, by leaving them in seperate cages, one out at a time, for awhile, see how Sully reacts to that.

I read the link that Sue provided below & there's some real good tips. I esp. like the idea of introductions being done outdoors, if possible.

I'd just play it by ear, take it slowly, but at their pace. Hopefully they'll end up getting along just fine! Good luck with the new addition to the family Very Happy !!
