| Hahns behaviour |
|
|
I have had a new Hahns(yippeee!) for a while now and she is adorable and so cuddly. She is like velcro, she is already talking, better at saying step up than doing it it times! My only problem with this little doll is getting her to stay on top of her cage while I do stuff, like cook dinner etc. She is clipped but maybe not enough. What sort of distance is ok, would I be spoiling her fun. Like flying on to my head and back on perch again while eating my dinner. LOL She is at present nestled under my hair at the back of my neck I reckon she would live there given the chance. Will post some pics soon. Just so busy with work stuff. Oh and although she doesn't really bite she does have fits of attacking my hair and an ear like she would a toy and the odd nip is this normal? Keeping her off my shoulder is so funny as she is worse than pico for scarpering out of reach. Not much written on Hahns so any advice on these adorable little mischieves welcome please. |

Hi Joti.. Congrats on your hahns, what's her name?
Hahns can have quite some personality, more than the big macaws! From what I hear they can be quite a handful.
If she's properly clipped she would be able to fly in a 45 degree angle. |

I would keep her off your shoulder.. I'm sure it's quite a job but these birds are worse than Sennies with their moodswings. (They can bite HARD, at least the ones I know. They're not as gentle as the big guys) They really have character.
May I ask how old she is? |

Hahns are a HANDFULL to say the least they have sooo much personality and are great talkers they have the same powerful beaks as the big macaws without the gentle nature my old hahns LOVED small spaces and to be scratched under his wings and he LOVED to be with someone I wouldnt count on getting him to stay on his cage willingly

Thanks folks. She is now six months old and her name is Peanut. She is so cute and cuddly. I am working on the off the shoulder thing but yes she is a determined little monkey. She is teaching Ziggy to be a bit more adventurous on the play perch and I reckon that if Ziggy recovers his voice ( See General forum under 'vet horror' they will be having conversations! I am taking them in to work with me Friday that should be fun. |

Hi everyone haven't visited for a while, I've had a Hahns for 8 years now her name is Mischief and she lives up to her name. She tends to preen my hair a lot which is what your little girl might be doing, also she tends to play with my ears which can get a little rough, it's important to make sure that you don't use natural products so that she doesn't get ill. She's probably just being affectionate, good luck. |

Yellow collar mini macaw. Genius and Terrorist. He has found almost every way possible to not go to bed at night, and lately he hasn't been going in for grapes or peanuts or safflower (his favorite will do anything for foods). I don't mind the shoulder, but he always tries to climb my hair to my head. It's like a game...."lets see if I can get there before mom takes me down). And yes, he flies. Keeping him in any one place for any amount of time is impossible. On the other hand, he can stay out when I garden because he'll keep his eyes on me at all times. Velcro. I knew mini's had personality,.... but geez louise!!! His favorite pastime is mischeif. Loves to do things he's not supposed to because even if I try not to react, it gets my attention. He's a gilligan alright... |
