I'm curious, did you end up getting a cat?
I've got a macaw & 2 mature cats in my house & haven't had a problem. Manu chases the cats off, they're pretty much scared of him.
But, keep in mind that cats (& dogs) have some kind of bacterium in their bodies that's toxic to birds & even a tiny scratch can
possibly
be lethal to a bird. |

Well CONGRATS on your new kitty ! My cats are both about 14 yrs old, but I did keep my daughters beautiful little kitty for about 6 months until she bought a house - it was SO FUN!
Yeah, if you just use common sense, you should be able to keep a cat & a macaw with no problems.
Good luck! |

Hi RosenZahra,
Cats are usually scared of macaws. And cats are usually fast enough not to get caught or bitten by a macaw.
If you get a macaw I would go for a mature macaw. A baby macaw can become prey-item for a cat. |

Congrats to you!
You must have so much fun...
...I think its better if you get kittens instead of cats, glad you did! That way the kitten can get used to being around macaws. I sound stupid...common sense, right?
He he....Bye! Hope you have fun with your cuties (kittens and birdys)! |
