Mischief Being a Little S....  Reply with quote

Thankfully Mischiefs stopped the mating behaviour but her latest thing is attention seeking. I think I'll have a few quiet minutes reading or watching TV and she creeps round behind me and pinches the back of my neck. She can be so naughty sometimes, it's not a real bite, just a you're not making a full of me reminder, I keep moving her away from me when she does it. These little Hahn's are so intelligent and part of me thinks it's funny but I must nip it in the bud before it starts getting more painful.

Ah! That's SO funny! Just this eve, I told my hubby that Manu was displaying some "spoiled" behaviour! It seems like he gets very loud whenever I leave the room anymore, which he never used to do.
And I thought he was getting a little more comfy outside without me being right in his sight, but now he's kind of reverted to yelling again if I step inside the house for a minute.
I don't know what's up with that!

Hi Cathy, maybe he's just lonely when he can't see you, I'm not very good at being firm with them, just one look at that little clown face cracks me up, it was the same when the kids were small, I would go to tell them off for something naughty and they would say something funny and that was it for me. Another thing Mischief does is fly to the top of Tims cage and poo in his water, I'm sure she means to do it as she hits target every time. I think you need to have a sense of humour to keep parrots as they seem to see the fun in everything.

Hi Cheeta, I think her name just came to me because it just seemed to fit. She was a sad little bird they had at the place where I buy the parrot food and she was scared of hands being near her but she didn't mind being looked at and when I went back the next week she was still there and couldn't resist, there were no toys in the cage just a perch and some feed dishes. They said she was hand reared although they were not charging a hand reared price for her and she was very small even for a Hahn's and when an avian vet examined her he said she'd had rickets because her toes were a bit crooked. After a while I managed to tame her (I still have the scars on my hands) and it became apparent that she was going to live up to her name and I guessed she was a girl which proved correct when she was DNA tested. When she lived in a house with 3 other birds, 2 Sennies and 1 Goffins she was the definite boss and was the only one who could be out with the Goffins as he didn't tolerate the Sennies and would bully them, he tried it with Mischief and got short shrift from her and he would give her a wide berth, sometimes she would fly near to him just to panic him, she's very loving to me and wants to be near me all the time.

I do find her adorable but she is a little handful, I don't have the room for one of the big Macaws but what she lacks in size she makes up for in other ways.
