Cheese is ok on the very rare occasion because they are too high in fat content. Because your little Poppet is still very young, it'll pick up fresh food quick enough. Just keep giving it to it and eventually it'll get the idea. Remember not to give them the stone of the plum to play with as it contains cyanide in the core of the stone. The fruit part is perfectly fine to give it to them. Oh as a treat only though due to the high sugar content.

That's OK Gemma, if he's chewing it, he's ingesting some of it too, I'm sure. My Macaw does that with corn & other veggies too, he just don't seem to like the skin Very Happy

Cheese also has a high salt content, which is bad, so I don't recommend it other than as a special treat on rare occasions.

If he's chewing on the fruit then he's basically getting the juices out of it and leaving behind the pulp or fleshy part. I agree with everyone on the cheese, only as an occasional treat Wink
