Healthy ice cubes  Reply with quote

Some days ago, I made some flavoured ice cubes. I made tea out of stinging nettle, thyme, fennel, camomile and some other herbs. Then I added garlic, because Iago & Zazu enjoy garlic a lot. (My nose! Shocked Shocked )
I sifted the brew and froze it into cubes.
When I added the cubes to the water, Zazu immediately went to check out his water bowl. He held the cube in his foot for quite some time, nibbling happily on the cube until it was gone.. Laughing Iago couldn't hold it very well so he was licking it.. Laughing

Gee, that sounds good enough for me, forget the birds. Very Happy Very Happy But I bet they enjoyed it. We tried some doggie frozen treats, they loved them to. Although I was a little nervious about given them a frozzen treat. Everything they eat goes into hier crop, and to much of this would seem to hurt them. I don't really know. But maybe somebody here can answer this question, I know a little bite won't hurt. But ???

well I once heard that some guy killed his cockatoo by feeding it icecream... not because it's dairy, but because it's cold?!?! but of course someone assured me that couldn't happen. so who knows.. I still don't give any of my birds large amount of ice or any sort.

But Sue Zazu sounds so cute checking the ice block out. I wonder if his little foot got cold holding the cube? Apollo would refuse to hold anything too cold in his talons. hehehe. Very Happy but now that summer is here in Australia, may be I can try the icecube out sometiems>

Hmmm, perhaps the cockatoo just overate? Many things that have 'too' in front of them will be harmful. Like water can kill us too, if we drink enough of it!

I don't know how cold his foot was. I wouldn't want to check it out. He might just warm his talon on my belly! (I did try to warm my hand under his wing during a winterwalk, Zazu tried to push my hand away very gently after a while!)

hahaha....that sounds like a good idea!!! Oskar loves to go 'fishing' in my water cups......he grabs the ice...then discovers that it's way too cold...and throws it at me! Laughing
I always laugh......every once and a while, he holds it and tries to eat it..but it doesn't work out too well....it melts too fast....but I'm going to get him a harnass and take him outside for a bit in the snow....it'll be funny to see how he reacts.....
lol

Misty seems to like ice and cold things but most of the others taste it and shake their heads like "yech what is that stuff"
