As some of you know I am getting a parrotlete. When I had Mikey the teil he always eat Zoopreem. Its also what we feed at the zoo. I have been looking into Harrisan's Bird Food and the site says do not feed other foods exceped what is on there list, this would mean no seeds. I know seeds are fatting but always thought they made a good snack and treat. What do you feed your parrots? |

Hi Shelly. I feed my parrots harrison pellets and I sometimes give them juvenile as a snack. Besides that, they get other stuff too.
I think you don't need to worry. You can always use seeds and veggies as snacks: Keep in mind that a parrotlet is very small and a large seed can fill its crop very well! |

Hi,
I think a little bit of seeds can do a lot of good to the birds..I think the key is a varied diet. I give my cockatoos and budgies seeds and pellets amongst other fresh stuff. I think lots of vegies, and less fruits, pellets and some seeds is a good balanced.
Out of the all the pellets, I'd say that Harrison is the best, but if I was to use it, I wouldn't follow everything that they say. A lot of the time that is just marketing strategy for the company. So go with your heart and your little babies will be just fine.
Good luck. |
