| My Maggie isn't eating |
|
|
Hi all im new here. I had a grey for years but she passed away. Now I just adopted an Amazon. She is hardly eating. Just picking at a few things. Plus I haven't seen her drink water at all except in the shower. Any suggestions? I have a vet appointment on Wednesday but i'd love to hear if any of you all have a Amazon and do they just not eat as much as Greys??????????? |

Hi Shanon,
I don't have a amazon myself. But I would try a lot of different things. Pellets, fruit, vegetables and nuts.

I live with an Amazon, & she's a great eater, she would probably eat anything & everything I allowed her to!
What are you trying to feed her? And how long has it been since you saw her eat?
I just read your post about your vet visit. If she has a heart condition, that may be the problem.
I really would suggest you try to find a good avian vet.
You know, if it's been more than a day since you know that she ate, at this point I would try giving her some bread soaked in tepid, or warm water.
Will she eat apple? You might try cutting a washed apple into fun shapes for her. Or maybe cook some oatmeal, add some cut up apple & give it to her warm.
You know, I'm not sure what age zons ween even, I adopted mine when she was 3 yrs old. Did you get her from a breeder, or a pet store? |

shes eathing better but very selective. shes not drinking water taht I can see. Vet said she must be cause she wasn't dehydrated. I give her water when she takes a shower. She will drink it flowing on her.
I will have to soak the hard foods for her. shes not got a strong bite. but she is eating better now at least. After trying every thing there is to try.
