olive oil  Reply with quote

Is there anything wrong with feeding birds foods cooked with olive oil? For example rice or pasta.

Hi Shirin,

I would say not, but have wondered myself....

It is healthy for us, but as we all know, this does not mean it is healthly for our Fids,,,

Although I would say that as long as it is a small amount, not often, I cannot see a problem.... But that is just my opinion and not based on any facts...

Smile Thanks for responding anyway Fi, I was feeling a bit ignored Laughing

The reason I asked is because Keesh Meesh had some rice yesterday (I cook all my food with Olive oil), and this morning he had really wierd looking poop. It looked almost yellow and kinda runny. So it worried me a bit.

Sue, I offer only tiny amounts also, and only once or twice a week, so I guess it should be fine?

Shirin, I think it would be fine.. I'll ask it on the Dutch forum too!
You know, I've been walking with this question for quite some time!

Olive oil is fine. it's just like any other cooking oil. in very small amount is fine..it's the fatty content that you gotta watch out for in oil. Very Happy

I don't see where it will hurt if offered in very small amounts. The oil thins out quite a bit when cooking a whole pot of pasta. I would think to consider it like salts and sugars. We're all guilty of giving treats with these ingredients. That's why they're treats Very Happy
