Cathy .. YES I mean the Beak Appetit, Crazy Corn and Healthy Bird Mashes .... I used to cook up mixtures of stuff for Focker, until I started him on the mashes .... they are fantastic .... there are so many different flavours, and I am amazed at what is in them .... I usually make up 3 different kinds, and then put them into ice cube trays and freeze them .... a few seconds in the microwave and the little Focker has a meal fit for a king |

Cathy .... there are so many brands of mashes out there, and I would suggest you try it ... I live in Canada so no doubt its probably more expensive here ... I get the 1lb bags of beak appetit or the crazy corn and I split the bags in half when I make them up ... from 1/2 a bag I get enough for 18 days, so from one 1lb. bag you should have enough for
36 days ... I have a larger bag of beak appetit Calypso Spice, you only use a cup when you make it, and so far I have taken 4 cups from that bag, and theres still enough in it for another 3 cups .. again I get enough from one cup for 18 days .... I would highly suggest trying the Beak Appetit, Goldenfeast Mash, Crazy Corn Mash or the Healthy Bird Mash ... like I said in my earlier post, Focker has never looked so good since I put him on this, and he LOVES IT .... |

prices high .... I live in Canada and our prices are always higher than the
US ... Focker has had his head in his dish for the past hour, hes filling up on Sweet Tweet, it's one of the Healthy Bird Mashes .... it has rice, cinnamon, apple, orange, raisins, split peas and a bunch of other stuff in it, and it smells out of this world .... Cathy if you are going to get some Beak Appetit, I would suggest the Calypso Spice, Focker loves that one too... when I introduce a new one to him I always mix it with one of the ones he likes, as well as mixing his pellets in it too .... let me know how your guys like the mash ... and Kellyanne you might wanna try the same thing, if you have 2 different kinds make them, and then mix 2 of them together when you feed Tilda ... the woman I got my mash from suggested this, she says her birds won't eat one flavour of mash, unless its mixed with another flavour ... just a suggestion, that worked for me ... |

I recently observed some of these bird food companies are coming up with healthier pellet choices
at my side, we have very limited choice, Kaytee being one of them. No Harrison though.
I'm glad Kaytee has start coming out with an Exact Organic that does not contain those toxic chemicals stated in the article
so after reading this artcle (thanks Sue!) I'm going to switch my flock to Kaytee Organic instead! |

Hey Kalden, I haven't heard of the Kaytee organic pellets yet. I haven't seen them available here in the Netherlands.
I can ask the people in the pet store over here.. |

Just to share with all I managed to find another alternative for Kaytee Organic from where I come from.
Bird food impoter has recently start importaing Hagen and tomy delight, Hagen porudced a line of parrot pellets called Tropican which is chemicals free!
Moreover, its at a competitive price compared to Kaytee at my side.
So now I'm using Hagen Tropican when limited supply of Kaytee Organic dries up.
You guys can check this brand out! |

someone should read all the positive ingredients and make a REALLY organic and good food to feed the birds!!!
the veggies I feed my babies are home grown, so I know that they're pesticide free and all that jazz.....
but....we can't grow alot of fruit...and organic fruit is pretty expensive.....
but I still fork it out...anything for my kids...
now it's just to find 'the perfect pellet' lol...

Thanks for the information about the pelleted food. I had a bad reaction to colourings and preservatives in food a few hears ago and needed emergency cortizone and adrenaline injections in the Accident and Emergency Department of the local Hospital because my throat was swelling up.
I feed my birds Tidy Mix which isn't a pelleted diet but is a complete diet which has seeds, nuts, chillies, garlic sticks and dried fruit and is fit for human consumption but I still suppliment it with fresh fruit and veg. Mischief and Tim thrive on it and so do my friends fids. |
