| Question and idea! |

A great suggestion to all bird owners! Birdy salad! A healthy treat you birds will LOVE.
Take some carrot, lettuce, and some types of bread (pasta, crackers, whole wheat bread ect.)
Chop the lettuce and carrot super super super super super fine. Place into food bowl and add some crackers or pasta or whatever you chose! If you like, add a tiny bit of orange juice. If your bird is extremly stubborn add some regular diet, or peanuts or something else that your bird likes to eat. Now for my question, any treat ideas for a 3 month old maroon tailed conure with an overgrown bottom beak which means he cannot eat large chunks of food ( whole penuts sunflower seeds dry fruit ect.)
SUGGESTIONS??????????????????????? |

Try making your own baby mesh for the little guy. you can soak the pellets in the mesh and make it all soggy. My little Apollo loves it, and Athena and Achilles is slowly coming around now too with the mesh food. |

the pellets I use are just parrots maintanance pellets from Vetafarm (Australian brand), but any good quality pellets will do.
As with the mesh, I just cook up (steaming or pressure cooking is good - parental help if needs be though) a whole lot of different vegetables (sweet potatoes, pumpkin, potatoes, brocollies, cauliflowers, carrots, peas and corns), then I put it all in a food processors and just blend it all up into gooey mesh food... basically human baby food. Freeze the lot in little containers for later use. pull out whatever I need for three to four days. Mixed pellets with each feeding. Leave for about 10 minutes for the pellets to go soggy. Done. Apollo loves it!! |

Hi Sveta, that sounds yummy but.. I don't think that crackers are good for birds.. Over here they contain a high amount of salt. They can be used as treats, but only scarcely.
I wouldn't give peanuts also: These nuts contain harmful molds every now and then. They're a big no-no over here. |
