Sprouted seeds and legumes  Reply with quote

I've got three bags of dried beans. Now what?! Tried to sprout them, but nothing happened. Can I sprout these? Black eyed peas, northern and black beans? Otherwise, just boil them and serve them warm with veggies , wholegrain pasta, and/or rice?

I serve legumes cooked. chic peas are the most favorite amongst my birds. They also love kidney beans. I also feed wholegrain pasta, and wild brown rice, cooked as well. Veggies can be served cooked, steamed, or raw.

I personally haven't tried it, I'm sure someone will be along soon to give you proper advice on how to sprout seeds. But I think you're supposed to leave the seeds in water for a couple of days. Razz Sometimes I find seeds in my laundry room sink, and they've started sprouting because they were sitting in the water from the laundry Laughing

I'm experimenting! Just rinsed some seeds and legumes then wrapped them in a damp paper towel. Will keep it moist and see what happens.

Don't worry, I won't feed them any of my crazy concotions until I'm positive that's it's OK. Wink
