| What is the best green cheek conure diet? |
|
|
I will be getting a green cheek conure in about a month, he will be weaned to zupreem pellets and veggies. When he comes home I will use these until he is thoroughly settled. But after that, I 'd like to convert him to the best diet possible. Any thoughts on what that would be? |

There are a lot of different opinions of the best birdy diet out there! Even vets opinions differ. My vet told me to get my little budgie on 25% seeds (nutriberries), 25% pellets (we use Harrisons) and 50% veggies and other foods. You can always ask your own avian vet for advice too |

Vets get paid for selling pellets, of course they recommend it. And pellets is better than just giving sunflower and other fatty seeds (as one did a couple of decades ago), but in my opinion itīs much better to serve a large variation of vegetables, some fruits, sprouts and dry seeds and nuts than pellets. Pellets is mostly a composition of soy beans, different cereals and synthetic vitamins and minerals. |

There are various opinions about the best diet..
I have very good experience with Harrisons bird foods. (I give HPC)
Wheezy does very well on Harrison.
Harrison High Potency Coarse pellets are organic and have a higher fat level than most pellets. |

I think I'll go with the Harrisions, and mix in veggies, at about a 70/30 mix. He's being weened on Zupreem, so I'll go with that until he's settled, then slowly switch him to the Harrisons.
Veggies should be easy, my wife says she's not a vegetarian, but I haven't seen her eat meat in years. Plus during the summer I some veggies. |

If he eats it right away: I wouldn't worry to much about a smooth switch? If you don't feel good about it: Just do the smooth switch. |
