Biting boy  Reply with quote

My nine month amazon, is trouble!!!
He has started biting, not hard but it still hurts!!! He doesn't want to hurt ans loves me to bits. He sits and snuggles with me.

I really want to stop this pecking i don't want to constantly say "no" and "no bite"
Any suggestions??

Thanks all
Smile

Is it really biting, or is it hard nibbling? I'd not pay any attention to it. If you try and distract him, you can have him do something else. Then reward him.. Smile

Yeah... could he be just learning how to explore with his tongue? birds do that quite a lot. Very Happy sometimes they just need to teach how to be gentle when exploring..

Chaquita is a YNA and when she get nippy I tell he "NO that's not nice!" and when she stops I'll talk to her softly telling her that she's a good girl. I've noticed that she gets nippy towards bedtime. Is yours the same way? Certain time in the day that Harley gets more nippy? Amazon's are quite independant and I feel, in my opinion, they are more prone to being nippy. If he continues, put him in his cage for about 15-30 minutes and try again.
