| Budgie bonded to Christmas tree (Please help) |
|
|
I'll get straight to the point, my budgie Cookie is bonded to the Christmas tree!
It's Feb. but we can't take out the tree because Cookie is in it 24/7. We bought her two small palms ( they are safe, I looked them up on this site ), but we're going NO WHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please HELP |

Ok...I don't know what you can do...but just take away the christmas tree and put the palms there...Otherwise, he HAS to come off the christmas tree, your not putting food and water there are you?
PS: Next time, please use a more descreptive title, its hard for me to know what it is talking about when you say that. Thank you |

Sorry, I thought it would get more attention.
No, I leave the food and water in her cage, we took out the tree, but we put her favorite ornamint onto the palm, but she's ignoring it. |

Well...Next time just use a descreptive title, easier for people to know what they are about to see. Thanks
About the Christmas tree, do you still need more help, or is that it? I don't know, do you want the palm to get more attension from your birdy? Oh, well...bye! |

Sorry - yes I agree a title can really draw people or not ... have had a few well read threads myself, but no response.
How's the lack of Xmas tree doing now?
I'm sure the tree offered tons of good things to chew, work the beak, be safe & smelt great. Do you bring in boughs for your Budgie to play with? Know anyone with some bushes to trim? I know a woman from England who brings in willow for her birds to chew - in fact have seen many do this. I tried willow but I personally didn't care for the sharp scent of the bark. I used it in the frames for my grass trellis.
My birds have been very active lately - managed to loosen the ceiling light cover & had it crash to the floor.
Rio, my youngest Budgie is very destructive & loves to chew. He loves our
Hibiscus
tree & as the leaves grow back very quickly it is an ideal plant for Budgies. I got some Grapevine branches from a friend, in the Fall, I keep adding them to their perch & they love to strip the bark off. It keeps them very busy. As he chews the paint off Laker's cage I have placed a corn husk mat I made last year over the spot & he's happily destroying that now instead.
I guess I'm trying to say - offer new things to explore thru taste, touch & give some complexity to their life. |

I am thinking of getting my own bamboo tree...We went to buy one, but then...THEY RAN OUT!
So now, I have to wait a week or 6
Your birdy must be crazy! I love your birdy...Very good story too.
Bye! |

Hurray!!! Thanks guys, our main problem is that she is reluctant to try new things, she mainly liked the tree because of the ornaments, I've put the 2 that she likes best on the palm, but so far it's a no-go. |

Hi sveta,
Maybe you can remove (very carefully) branches of the x-tree.
The x-tree might become less familiar, which might help her overcome her fear of new cage.
Can you make some pictures of cookie in the x-tree? |

Sorry, we threw it out a few days ago cause it was so dry and dusty that it made us all cough and sneeze. I live near the woods, so I can find some tree braches that weren't sprayed. |

Try this link to safe trees.

I think your bird will be quite interested in the new stuff. Maybe the Xmas tree experience will help. You could hang ornaments on the branches you bring home. I put toys on my bird perch, built from a Maple Branch that forked like a sling-shot. I try new ones all the time. Rio likes them for sure.
